Very competent and helpful staff. Provide useful advice on making certain components last longer, for example, chain saw bars.

They always have the equipment I need and the service is great.

Generally the staff are quite helpful and knowledgeable...depends on who is working at the time. The equipment is well maintained and usually available. Equipment purchase and parts supply- excellent.

I rented a wood chipper for the weekend from this rental village. I picked it up on Friday at 5. Went to my property and started to use it. I got through one small pile and shut it down to move the machine. When I went to start it back up it wouldn't idle up. I noticed a low oil light and shut it down to check the oil. It did appear to be low so I stopped using the machine for the night and called rental village and left a message for them explaining what had happened. I received no call back on Saturday morning so on my way by I stopped in and was told to bring the machine back. I did just that and the tech added oil which didn't solve the issue. He then found that the chipper blade was jammed. He managed to free it after some effort and a piece of wood and some dirt came out of the chute. I asked about getting some time back on my rental and was told no as it was jammed and essentially my fault. I didn't object and went back to the property and chipped the rest of the wood I needed to with no incident. I dropped the machine off on Monday morning and as the tech was taking it off the hitch he commented "you didn't shovel any more dirt in it did you?" To which I said no and took my contract and went home. Now, I'm not a complete idiot. I didn't put anything in the chipper but wood. I didn't put any roots or any large chunks or anything that would be considered a foreign object into the chipper. I paid the full fee and gave no objections only to be poked fun at. It's pretty obvious the machines don't go through a thorough check as I was given a machine with low oil to begin with. To blame someone for jamming it seems like bad business when you aren't checking them for jams before renting them out. I'm building a house this spring and will require quite a few things from a rental company. Luckily for me their are plenty of other companies to rent from as I personally will not be going back to rental village.
