Rent A Place Ottawa

I was having troubling finding a place, but with rent a place I got everything done in a couple hours. Their service was amazing and efficient. Both Max and Isabella helped made the experience amazing !

Max and Isabella were very helpful from the beginning of the process right down to the end. Even when there were some challenges during my lease they were available to help. Would definitely recommend Rent A Place for international students looking for housing in Ottawa.

In a span of 3 to 5 days, I had secured housing through RentAPlace. I had been searching for a place for over two months until I found their site. It was fast, easy, and the personnel are very friendly and helpful. There is no other rental agency/platform like this in Ottawa—trust me, I have tried all others!

Throughout our process with Rent a Place, finding an apartment and signing the papers were the easy parts; the rest was a terrible experience. Upon finding our first apartment online, we were able to visit since we were close to the listing once we submitted our application and Rent a Place took our deposit. The apartment was absurdly different and we quickly cancelled our application; however, we were not able to receive our deposit back despite the false advertising. Rent a Place had shown that the listing was verified, and in that case it is not verified and updated as frequently as they claim. Thereafter, we thought it was a simple mistake since our friends had an enjoyable experience, yet we still experienced more ridiculous issues. We ended up visiting another listing, and it was similar enough that we decided that it was appropriate since we were short on time for finding a place. That said, the representative from Rent a Place told us that any structural damage that we noticed throughout the apartment would be repaired before we moved in. Upon moving in, the apartment was a disaster. There were piles of garbage throughout the apartment, rotting food in the cabinets, the structural damage was never fixed and even more issues kept appearing throughout our stay. Our sink fell through to the floor, our hot water knob in the shower broke off leaving us with 3-4 days of cold water showers while we waited for the building's management, we continuously saw cockroaches, and even had rats. So much for being verified? The issues within the building were not the fault of Rent a Place; however, they should not have listed it and claimed it as verified, and when we approached them regarding the situation they barely helped the situation what so ever. Another unit in the building was awarded compensation, yet we were never offered anything. If you're choosing Rent a Place due to aspects such as having 'verified listings', avoid the deposit and find your listings on another site.

Overall, my experience was pretty good. To be honest, I was quite doubtful initially cause they say they only rent online. But I also realized that they mostly specialize in housing for people from out of town so I respect that. Myself and 2 of my friends ended up renting rooms in a house on Chapel St. The place was mostly as advertised except for a few things (couches instead of sofa, smaller dining table and a minor damage on my bedroom door), but the agent on the phone (Isabella) was pretty thorough explaining the discrepancies before our application was accepted so I appreciated their honesty. The landlord was pretty responsive in fixing issues whenever they came up. I'll probably end up re-using the service but I suggest carefully checking their virtual tour because my room was a bit smaller than what I expected base on the photos. I only realized that in the virtual tour after booking my room. But other than that, it was a pretty good experience.

Isabella was incredibly professional and helpful! I would highly recommend Rent A Place if you're looking to move to Ottawa and are from out of town. Isabella was always so quick to respond to all of my questions and inquiries. Overall, the process was super smooth and trustworthy. Thank you!

So glad I came across these guys given that the agents, thereby the service is incredible - and I hope it forever stays this way! It's my first time moving out, and everything was signed and finalized in 3 days just due to the mad efficiency. My search was so quick just because the apartments they have are of such quality. Their virtual tour is super useful as well.

Please check the bad reviews .similar stories .i am sure they bought the good ones .To anyone interested in the whole story,I can provide screenshots .I paid for rentaplace which is thier process .then they get back to me 10 hours after payment via their messaging platform on the website. Everything they did indicated that they werent willing to do business with me .I strongly believe they have a stereotypical bias .So if you are diverse ,you really want to patronize a company that is inclusive of everyone They then asked if I saw the details of my booking and the people i will be living with which i did and i said to proceed .They rejected me on the basis on the basis that i wasnt a good fit with the remaining roomates .Please note that at this point there was no credit or reference check so it wasnt that .it was at the preliminary stages .After telling me to select anither olace which i did , they then said it would take another 24 to 72 hours on which i indicated i had been in airbnb which is expensive and wanted to ensure that the count is from the day i sought their service not from the point of swaping my request.i also asked if they will comply with what they mentioned on their site to oay for airbnb if thwy cant fufil the 72 hours processing times .Upon asking that isabella cancelled my payments after holding it for 2 days .I rejected other offers cos my money was already preauthorized by them and was waiting on them .Please note that she sent the rejection information shortly after telling me management wants me to fill my bio and upload my documents .Upon submitting and asking turn around time period ,she rejected and cancelled after taking all my data ,my time and making me go through all that stress .This company is going to collect your data on the basis of housing and God knows do what with it .I think they should be audited and given a diversity training as well .If you want proof ,i am happy to send you screenshots. I never comment on websites but this company is just one of a kind (in my sarcastic voice)
