Red Key Realty & Property Management - Red Deer

I will be keeping the farthest distance possible from this company forever. If you are a tenant of Red Key Realty I offer the following warning...my experience is this company views their tenants security deposit as a source of profit. I left my unit in very good condition and the walk-out went quite well. Their agent told me I could expect a small deduction to account for some "touch-ups" which I had no issues with. Later I received an invoice for an astonishing 10 hours worth of "cleaning" totaling $358 (and I want to mention they own the cleaning company also). It took numerous back and forth emails to get the true cost of the cleaning to be revealed, which I was shocked to see even included areas that were clearly marked as clean/good on the inspection report. But the most remarkable part is how they stuck to their guns on the charges even when shown that some of the cleaning was completely unnecessary because we agreed on the inspection report it was already clean. This took a total of 6 months to finally get things right and I ended up paying $65 in cleaning costs, which is about what I had initially expected. The tenant dispute resolution service is ridiculously backlogged due to Covid so that wasn't really a viable option and I bet they know that too. My lesson was if you are dealing with this company moving out their Management (Stephanie Pineau is who I dealt with) is incredibly unprofessional and either has no measurable understanding of the Alberta Residential Tenancies Act, or its all a show to try and get you to walk away leaving your money behind (my bet is the latter). DONT DO IT. Push for what is right and don't let them steal your money. They are deliberately taking advantage of people in a vulnerable situation and it is a lucrative venture I'm sure. Have a lawyer issue a demand letter for $500 and they will do what is right once they know they are about to be exposed. I didn't have the means to pursue it this time, maybe someone else will later or they will read this and know that others know what they are doing and just stop being a great example of how to be a terrible corporate citizen.

Honestly, believe EVERY SINGLE NEGATIVE REVIEW!!!! Had I read them first I would never have applied for a rental from them. Just all of the no's. All of them. The only good experience was I was able to get my money back in full after THREE trips to the office for a cashable check. Just no. 1000/10 would NOT recommend.

If I could I would give zero stars, this company is horrible. They do not take tenants concerns seriously and don’t even email you back to say they are looking into the matter. And they don’t care about tenants health or safety even after concerns have been brought up.

The best experience in town, they are so professional, and they have different listings depending on your budget and location, I wanted to rent a place, and when i called, even if they had a busy schedule, they gave me the chance to see 3 different places in less than 3 days, my experience with Nancy was great, her patience, advices, and professionalism are exceptional. definitely worth 5 stars ?

hello Just want to let everyone know why I rated this business so low. I was looking for a rental in red deer and I like more then 350 km away from red deer. I had a local friend who is doing viewings as I am not able to go to red deer for viewings. I inquired on one of there properties and was told I must view the property in-person. Can't have a local person view it for me. Even after I explained I don't live anywhere near red dear. Of all the property rental locations I have had no issues with haveing a friend do my property viewings. They are clearly not accommodating of prospective customers and that was my first and last red flag.

Red Key took great care of the management of my property. I really appreciated the confidence the team gave me, knowing that the tenants and property were in good hands. There was very little to do on my part, which was truly such peace of mind.

I don’t usually leave reviews but I’m feeling really frustrated as I’d been trying to get in contact with Stacey with the rental department, or anyone for that matter, for a week and no one bothered to get in touch with me. I sent emails and left multiple voices messages inquiring about a rental property and when I finally got a hold of them, they told me they weren’t booking viewings anymore as they have a couple applications to review. The rental property was available online up until today when I finally got a hold of someone. Disappointing. I can see why the google reviews are low.

I am writing on behalf of my partner, who used this service for his rental. Completely trash company. They took no immediate action when his unit flooded not once, but twice. They took their sweet time with contractors, and by the end of his 1 year term, it still was not completely finished. When it came to the walkout, they do not take into consideration their CLIENTS time (partner had to leave work one day, and had to ask a relative to do the second walk through when the first did not happen). It was agreed upon to have a walk through on a Sunday. The staff member was utterly disgusting to deal with to make a commitment happen for such walk through. To have her not come on the Sunday, and not respond to his calls the day off. She stated she ‘would absolutely not make an appointment on a Sunday’. Which is a complete lie. I was witness to such phone call where she agreed. I might also add her tone was not one of a true professional who values their clients. My partner had his apartment cleaned immaculately, except for the carpets (which he knew was a cost, not a bother to him). They stiffed his DD $275 for the carpets and ‘extra cleaning’. Excuse me?! This rental was not large by any means - a single bath and two bedroom - and $275 was needed for carpets and additional cleaning?! Utter blasphemy. They never corrected anything that was met as unsatisfactory on the initial walk through on day 1, and even tried kicking my partner out of his unit early, even though he was legally entitled to stay until his term was finished. This company is one of the top most unprofessional companies I have barred witness to and will absolutely NEVER recommend to anyone moving to Red Deer. Trust the other honest reviews. Also, take not of the other sites where their ratings are severely low. This is not a trustworthy company.
