And of course, plants, trees and everything to do with landscaping is available as well. “My goal in building Spruce It Up was to have a full-service garden centre where the client really has that one-stop shop,” says owner Meryl Coombs, who started the business in 2006.
Spruce It Up Garden Centre covers a 20-acre site, featuring 15,000 square feet of greenhouse and a 4,000 square foot retail showroom filled with all sorts of exterior décor. “It just goes hand and hand with the garden," says Meryl. "People always want to spruce up their backyard and add a bit of colour; add some new décor. It finishes off their landscape and we help them to accomplish that.”
The Centre is the true definition of full service. If you don’t have the time to do it yourself, Spruce It Up has designers and landscapers to deliver and install whatever you need. “For us to service everybody like that is a bit of a challenge,” says Meryl. “But it also keeps us in tune with what Calgary’s looking for in the landscaping industry."

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Recently we had a large 70 ft evergreen tree removed. The fellows that came by to remove the tree were extremely careful not to damage the house (as the tree was close by) and were mindful of the landscaping around the tree as well. They also ground the stump and left the mulch for us to use in our landscaping. Overall, we were very happy with the service. Emails or calls were returned promptly and they really ensured we were happy with the service.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Mark came over and took a look at our 2 very large spruce trees in our back yard. He went over with us what needed to be done and listened to our questionxs. The estimate was emailed to us later that day. We were given a date for 3 weeks later. Five well equipped and appropriately dressed tree pruners arrived on that date at the scheduled time. Four scurried up into the 2 trees and 1 stayed on the ground and carried branches out to the chipper. It was interesting to watch as they had all safety gear on, safety harness, helmuts, etc. They answered all my questions and were polite and respectful . They worked their way up the trees removing dead branches and spacing out branches. These 5 employees were very focused on getting the job done and doing a great job while they were here. They also tipped the lower branches back as ours is not shaped but natural. Everything was cleaned up after they were done and they went over the fence and removed branches and debris that had fallen into our neighbours yards. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The guys from Prune It Up came out to clear the dead wood on 3 of my 50 yr old spruce trees. They were fantastic! On time, great job, great clean up of the debris after. They went up about 30 ft on the trees - everything looks so much healthier. I was really impressed. So impressed that I've had them do an estimate for the huge pine tree and large spruce in my back garden. I'll get that done this year - I highly recommend Prune It Up.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The crew showed up exactly when they said they would and finished the job on time. We had 5 trees pruned and they did an excellent job, explained what they needed to do and why. Cleaned up all branches and leaves on job completion. 2nd time we have had this company and would contract with them again. A few days after completion a company rep came by to check on the work done and to ask if we had any concerns, a really nice feature you don’t often see.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have a 100+ year old crab apple tree where one limb fell, and I was anxious to save the tree. They installed a cable on the remaining limbs to save them from the same fate, and prune the branches every couple of years, it's still going strong. They are very knowledgeable and did an excellent job. Highly recommended.
