★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There was a job posted but they wanted volunteers.
About a year ago I was applying for jobs and got a call back from Jackie at Pro Alta. She asked me if I wanted to come in for a job interview and to bring 3 references with me. When I arrived there were other people coming waiting for interviews. Claire and Faisal did an interview and without even looking at my resume (they had looked at it before) told me that unfortunately I didn't qualify for any of the positions but I could come in and volunteer for experience if I was interested. This was not an internship and they stated it probably wouldn't turn into a paid position latter on. They also had interviews with a lot of students that were looking for experience and said this was fairly common practice for them at their office.
I'm quite annoyed they are bringing in people with the offer of a job then only offering volunteer positions aimed at students, this seems rather unethical to me. I understand the accounting field is hard to break into, but I would of preferred an honest offer to 'volunteer for experience' rather then bait and switch tactics.
This review is for their hiring practices only, from what I saw they appeared competent at their profession.
