About Prairie Alliance Church

In 2011, Lead Pastor Nathan Weselake and our Board of Elders began to discern that there was a small constellation of specific works that God was calling PAC to focus on. Of all the things we could do, these were the things we must do! The team had a strong sense that this cluster of concerns carried a sacred weight that would keep them solidly at the core of our church-life for years to come. Their gravitational pull would exert a constant draw on our energy and attention.

We framed them as our “Four Prayers” - the things we longed for God to make a reality in our midst. As we prayed into these things and began living them out year by year, God was faithful to begin answering our requests. We loved what we saw developing: deepening relationships with our neighbors, the flourishing of our towns, the healing of broken bodies, minds, and spirits, and a desire to share all this goodness with other communities!

This place is awesome! Gave me a community when I really needed it and helped me improve my life overall! 10/10 would do again.

5 star reviews shouldn't be coming from staff(former) staff. Let the "customers" make the reviews. Unfortunately Portage doesn't have many other selections in town for progressive churches so that leaves this one. Some of their spiritual practices are questionable. Unless you fit into the select few at PAC, Nathan will have nothing to do with you and wave you off when it comes to meeting new staff. Nathan struts around his kingdom, thinking he is just rocking it. Venture out people past portage people, many other great churches out there with a head pastor who actually cares about you.

I've been very welcome to be myself here, which big has been a struggle for me in other churches. I like the emphasis on living eternally now rather than waiting for eternity. The large size could be an up or downside. It's big enough you could feel unnoticed or lost, but there's also enough people you can probably find someone or a group that fits you where you're at. It might take some looking though.

My wife and I love this church. We have made some great friends and keep meeting great new people. It is a larger church with a lot of great programs for kids, youth and adults. Join a house church (a group that meets weekly in the community at someone’s house) and get to know people on a deeper level. We have found that PAC is a safe place to come as we are and grow in our faith. You do not have to have it all together or even pretend like you do. PAC is accepting, loving, safe and has made us feel welcome. Come check out PAC for yourself. PAC is a great community of people after the same goal of growing in relationship with Jesus and one another in community. You will get as much out of church as you put into it, lean into the community, get involved, join a house church and seek after Jesus.

My husband and I have been a part of the PAC family for 30 years. It is filled with caring people who love God and want to share His love with everyone because they know that God can do what no one else can. I love to see the many young people and families come together each week to serve and worship together. Everyone is welcome here!

Started attending PAC at the worst time of my life as I thankfully had a connection with the current pastor. During my time, I have connected with a great many wonderful God lead people in Housechurch, Music Ministry, Staff, and the congregation as a whole. Through the prayers, love and encouragement of these people, I have been able to walk through my grief and brokenness and emerge into a place where the father's love is a tangible part of my life. Life is not without it's challenges, and I'm still a work in progress, but PAC gives me real hope and strength to continue walking forward with God our father, and continuing to seek him in my life.

I spent 14 years at this church involved with the Drama ministry for 8 years. I was never contacted by any of the pastors in all that time. I did everything I could to feel connected including house church. I was told by one person that they didn't want to talk to me because I looked sad. I have no close friends at the church and no one from that church has contacted me in any way in the last 7 years. I have lots of friends outside of the church who accept me for who I am. When I needed spiritual and emotional help from the church leadership I got none. They're only helpful if you don't question their leadership and act like a clone of everybody else.

I've been attending Prairie Alliance Church for ten years and it's always felt like a home to me. The warmth of community, the meaningful messages, the wonderful worship, I could go on and on. I've gotten to know so many people, had so many great conversations over coffee just before or after the service. It's not a perfect place, but it is a place where I know God is honored and is working. I've e had the pleasure of being a volunteer for quite a few years on the music team and its been such a rewarding place to connect even further with people and experience taking a more active role in effecting the community around us. This church is not just a place to take it all in, it's a place to step out of your comfort zone and experience something new in serving others.
