PODS Moving & Storage - Edmonton

Clear communication throughout the process. POD was delivered on time and just where I needed it for easy loading and unloading. Professional delivery driver made the process easier. I really liked the web page for selecting and scheduling the POD size I needed.

My experience with PODS was extremely disappointing. I am moving, and I decided to renovate my basement to make the home easier to sell. I did not have a new home yet, but I knew where I was going to move. So when I talked to PODS, I said I was moving to South West Edmonton and could they take the pod I put into storage to my new home there. I was told this was no problem. They deliver to all of Edmonton and the Area. So I figured I was safe, the home sold, and I found a new home. When the POD was delivered the floorboards inside were busted up from the floor so I needed to delay loading the Pod until they could come to fix it. Next, contacted PODS well ahead to arrange to have the Pod brought to the new home, and even though it is an Edmonton location, I was told the postal code does not exist and that they do not deliver to this location. Just because their computer may not have updated Postal codes, they feel it does not exist. They told me my only choice is to have it delivered back to my old home and for me to get a truck and transfer the stuff into the truck and take it to my new place myself. This defeats the whole purpose of using the Pod to start with. Now I need to pack and unpack the stuff twice and then take it out to my new location myself, adding extra costs, frustration, inconvenience, and using up more time in this hectic move. The person I spoke to about this was not very professional and made ZERO effort to help me out. It was too bad so sad for customers I guess

I booked PODS Edmonton for a recent move. I was confident in our choice because of all of the information on the website. It was very simple! A Canadian company with loads of experience moving across Canada. We moved about 550kms. (Edmonton, AB to Southeast, BC). All over the PODS website are reviews, stories and claims about how they are flexible, convenient and pretty much the best way to move! I was assured that our long distance move would be no problem. We booked the pod, got it dropped off, packed it up and sent it back to the pods storage facility. The driver was really nice and professional, told me they do long haul moves all the time! They stored the pod for about 2 months. A few weeks after the pod was picked up from our old home, I called back to arrange the pod drop off at our new house, only to be told that they couldn't deliver the pod more than 50 kms away from the storage facility. My heart dropped. They could however drop if off 9 hours away from us near Vancouver which is about 1160 kms from Edmonton. So, they could drive it all the way through BC, past our new house but they couldn't drop if off anywhere near us. They expected us to rent a uhaul, drive back to Edmonton, or to Vancouver, unload the pod and reload our items into a truck and move it ourselves OR hire a moving company. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. This was a big problem as we weren't expecting to pay over $3000 for the moving company. The customer service associate that I dealt with was polite, agreed that customers had been wrongfully mislead and she did seem sincere with her apology but unfortunately, that didn't really help. We ended up paying full price for the pod rental and then full price for a moving company. (2 Men & A Truck is a great moving company!!) Go to their website after you read this review! PODS is probably good with local moves and fine for storing items but the website is extremely misleading. I wouldn't recommend PODS to anyone moving more than 25 minutes away from their current home.

My experience with PODS was awesome. I was moving from a townhouse to a stand alone home and had a tight timeline to get everything done. PODS was 100% reliable from the initial phone call, to the first drop off and to the last pick-up. I had a really tricky driveway at the townhouse, and the driver absolutely nailed the delivery. The Podzilla is genius. The drivers were always at the beginning of the expected time frame, and they were efficient, respectful, and professional. I definitely recommend PODS.

Delivery driver Rachel was the best. She placed the PODS exactly where I needed them. She was friendly, knowledgeable and professional.

Offered smaller units than others do and charged about $85 a month more for a smaller unit plus delivery. I did get no response from their web contact nor was I successful in reaching them via phone. I only ended up getting a call back when I emailed them as a last resort.

PODS has overcharged me several hundreds of dollars. Like other clients have stated, upper management has failed to get in contact and address my issue as well, despite me requesting by email and phone that someone look into and address this issue for close to two months now. I have continued to follow up and still noone has addressed the issue. I did find the drivers and phone receptionists to be kind, but it's concerning to me how upper management at PODS treats clients especially concerning a financial issue of this magnitude. Also, while my POD was in their possession, snow/water must have gotten on the lock (a lock I bought from them) which must have caused it to rust as it wouldn't open. In this situation, they refused to provide assistance, and I needed to call and pay for a lock-smith myself.

PODS : these are great for Home to Home, where the home and dates are all set in advance, and life is good. this is NOT good for going from home to RENTAL where the dates are subject to (?) so if you have a nice house with a nice driveway, and going to a nice house with driveway and you have time to either keep the PODS there then life is good. if you need it somewhere for a few hours, to empty and move it, this will NOT WORK for you. I appreciate the service but still requires refinement. for situations where the pod can be emptied in one day or less.
