About Planet Mushrooms

Planet Mushrooms was born from a desire to eat the freshest mushrooms possible. With our global food system, the freshest food is the food we grow at home. With a background in Chemical and Material Engineering, Planet Mushrooms founder, Chantal Wang, wanted to bring the experience of mushroom growing to every home. She gained knowledge and hands-on experience in mushroom cultivation from her parents who are experts with more than 30 years of experience in China. She now combined her life experience and knowledge on chemical and material engineering to work on mushroom cultivation, mushroom based materials and fungal remediation to make mushroom growing, and eating, a fresh, fun and healthy experience for the whole family.

Our mission at Planet Mushrooms is to make growing and eating fresh mushrooms a fun experience. Mushrooms are nutritious fungi that provide vitamins, protein and polysaccharides. Growing mushrooms is a complex process, which requires extensive experience and care. At Planet Mushrooms, we've taken on the science to produce robust Mushroom Home Grow Kit to satisfy the desires of growing your own fresh mushrooms year-round. The grow kits are ready to fruit. Most importantly, the varieties of mushrooms (Lion's Mane, Shiitake, Oyster, Wine Cap, Nameko, Chestnut, Reishi and Turkey tail, etc.) we provide will satisfy every foodie’s cravings. To the best of our knowledge, we are the only producer in Canada that produces mushroom grow kits with such a large variety and highest quality. Our grow kits mimic the habitat of wild mushrooms and are free of fertilizer and pesticide.

Very excited. The blue oyster just came, it's only been shy of two weeks. It's my first time growing mushrooms. I love how cute they are. I strongly recommend Planet Mushrooms, fast shipping and Canadian made!

I made my first order from their website last month and am really happy with the kit. Pretty fast shipping too.

Love love love! This is our second harvests already. We have grown oyster mushrooms before. It is our first Lion's mane kit. It is so much fun! And it is good for the brain. It is actually very easy if you follow the instructions.

Unfotunately bought 2 kits, of which 1 kept shriveling once mushroom would grow (which they said they'd replace) and the other just grew green mold which they state is customer/environmental issue. The kits purchased in the past (other companies) had literally no issues. Customer service took multiple emails to garner any response and a month later I still have not received the offered replacement. Unfortunately won't be purchasing again.

I purchased two different kits for Christmas presents and neither one did anything aside from spawn green mould. We have had success with kits from other companies then these kits arrived and did not look inoculated at all. I have tried twice emailing the company and no response. A bit disappointing…

Very Dissapointing. I also had a problem where my mushroom shrivelled up and didn't grow. I followed the instructions to the letter, searched the internet, and even built a fruiting chamber, with no success. I reached out to Tyler who didn't seem overly helpful, and just sent a printed sheet which did not really answer my questions. After a while, I got green mould, so I put the whole thing in my compost. Maybe it'll do better there.

I was excited to get and give these kits as Christmas presents. I bought 6 in total. 1 had mould, I sent an email and I was instructed to send pics to Tyler for help. I did this and waited 6 days, I emailed again. He responded the next day. His email told me to put the bag in a pot and cover it with soil. There were no other instructions of any kind. I returned the email and said his instructions didn’t help as they were unclear. I didn’t tell me how long how much soil wet dry or anything else. After no response I told him that I didn’t have time to go back-and-forth with emails after all it has been now 5-6 days. He finally said the soil limits light and helps fight the mould. He said if I didn’t want to do this, he gave me a $32.00 credit which won’t get me a new kit. I’m pretty disappointed in this course of action. I gave a 3 ⭐️ because Tyler’s performance was less then stellar. My Initial interaction with the company was fab, Chantal was great 5 ⭐️ I want to support Canadian businesses, treat us with respect please.

I had doubt on the mushroom bags because it shows pink on the bag. I though it was lip stick fungus or some type of mold. But it turns out that the mycelium itself is pink after discussion with the seller. The mushrooms turned out very beautiful. If you haven't grown them yourself, you should try. And keep in mind that not all mycelium is white. Quite pleased with the result!
