★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fantastic pizza place in the heart of Roncesvalles with friendly service and quality pies.
Highly recommend “the winner” their appropriately named award winning pizza with nduja, maitake mushrooms, basil, tarragon etc. Great tang on the sauce, nice cook on the undercarriage and the Buffalo mozzarella is too notch. I think without a doubt- one of the top pies in the city. The other two pies we had were the “pumba” and the “red hot chili pepper”, and would recommend those in that order. The RHCP was not very spicy but they have some excellent chili oil and chili flakes on the side to help with that. Overall the pizza edges more towards a Neapolitan style but is thinner and has a bit more crisp, with a smaller crust.
Super friendly service and super quick as well. Restaurant was busy but we were able to get seated immediately due to the efficient turnover. Great ambiance and would really recommend as a nice sit down/dine in place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was recently pleasantly surprised and impressed by Pizzeria Defina in the Roncesvalles neighbourhood. I was there for an engagement party in an area I was unfamiliar with but the food, service, and venue were all outstanding!
We had the party room on the second floor. It was nicely set up, with casual seating, intimate lighting, lots of space to mingle, a nice bar and patio out back, washrooms (with a shower in one), and lots of art hanging on the walls. Very nicely done!
It was a casual setup for food, starting with a Cheese Platter, Oysters on the Half Shell, Olives, and Flatbreads. The veggie courses were next with a delicious Romaine Garden Salad, Crispy Brussels Sprouts, Crispy Green Beans with a delicious Truffle Aioli, and Wild Boar Meatballs.
Pizza was the last course and they were certainly worth the wait. We got a variety, all cooked in a wood-fired oven and all delicious! I was kinda full by this time but I managed to sample a couple of different ones and they were outstanding. This was the best pizza I've had in a very long time!
Besides the great venue and delicious food, the service was excellent, especially with only three staff to handle greeting, serving, clearing, tending the bar, and operating the dishwasher on the fly. Great job!
Although this was a private event in their party room, I can only imagine the restaurant on the ground floor would be just as good. Give them a try. I would definitely come back!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great pizza place. Great staff, and the food was really good, too. Ate the grilled calamari and octopus which were both flavorful and tender. Then the fried brussel sprouts were good. Finally the pizza was awesome. Italian style dough with North American sensibility on the toppings baked to perfection in a wood fired brick oven.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Omg the creaminess of the cauliflower soup!! It was made in heaven. We ordered that and a plate of roots veggies that was crazy! Each veggie had its own flavor and style. Both very interesting starters. We finished up with a Margherita pizza which was ok. After those beautifully executed starters our expectations were high but it was really good. Overall this place is well above 4 stars
Occasion: your family came to visit and you want to take a stroll down Roncevalles avenue and eat at a delicious Italian

Dough was tasty but for sure u need to use cutlery, otherwise everything is felling down.
Steak was tasty too.
Servis of waitresses was incredible. Super friendly n paid attention to details.

Neighborhood staple with strong and tight standard offerings. Felt cheated on with the "wild" mushrooms, but overall still a pleasant food experience.
Winner pizza is a great entry into their lineup, showcasing the sauce and crust.
Standout is their steak, grilled perfectly, great portion size, good mash and accompanyments.
Mushroom is a skip - not sure why I pictured something other than soggy, wet and slippery king oyster mushrooms. It sounded good and still flavourful, but not exactly the description it offered.
Small tap, good wine. Takes AMEX.
