I had the tasting menu and it was perfect. The staff were amazing, the service was without flaw and the food was exquisite. The soft shell crab tempura with hondashi mayo was divine. I disagree with a previous review saying the octopus tasted like "fish sausage" and it was one of my favorite dishes. Being on my own I only had the halibut and it was a rich and decadent way to finish the savory portion of the menu. The carrot cake was good, much lighter than I'm used too. I loved the yuzu curd and the crisp candied carrot. In general I found it to be a cohesive concept that was well reflected in the dishes served. Thank you

While I couldn't eat like this all the time as its rich for me, (typically eat more vegetarian meals) I enjoyed their protein heavy tasting menu! I'm still thinking about their tuna tartar (and I don't even like raw fish?)! The 7 course ( pre selected on tasting menu) dishes had me trying a few 'new to me' dishes and I was pleasantly surprised!! I found the amounts perfect and correct with the waiter's ("we aim to satisfy but not overwhelm"). I did find the Ling cod (which I was the most excited about when scanning the menu) to be a little dry, the puree and its accompaniment milder and less striking than the other dishes they brought. I was very impressed with the service, I found our waiter efficient and effective in delivering information about everything. His timing was excellent. I also found sitting at the 'chef table' with a view into the kitchen to be fun and interesting. My only complaint would be the hard bench that became very noticeable after an hour. That felt like an encouragement to move on, which countered my otherwise very welcomed and taken care of feeling. This is not a venue I would invite my vegetarian friends to, though Im sure they wouldn't let one starve, it caters to seafood and meat lovers! I will definitely return?

We went there on our anniversary, and it was fantastic. They are known for their foie gras rice. I kinda wished I didn’t order the pork belly bamboo shoot rice, not that it’s not good, BUT incomparable to FOIE GRAS RICE! We wanted to try as many dishes as possible, so we ordered two sets of tasting menus and their notorious Foie gras rice. We sat at the best table, where not only has the view of the whole restaurant, also could observe the chefs working their magic. Oh, before I forget. One of their desserts was memorable, too. Just by reading its name made us cringed. Sichuan pepper? A spicy dessert? The server who reminded me Daniel Bruhl reassured us that the spice would only β€œnumb” us, not spicy. He was right. It defines fusion to the spot! The location of the restaurant was probably the only thing I had a slight issue with, it located on the corner of E Hasting. I’ll leave it at that. Will definitely be back for more! Till next time.

This place is one that’s good for every occasion - date night, girls night, family, etc. It has a great ambiance that’s more dim but not necessarily intimate, feels modern though. The service was my favourite part of pidgin, the waiters are awesome and I was impressed. We tried the tasting menu, which was $85/person and I’ll give you some highlights. Tuna tartare was really good, fish was very fresh and the taro chip paired well. Butter poached halibut was cooked nicely - I notice it’s typically hard to cook halibut well without being a bit dry or chewy, but that wasn’t the case here. Butter sauce was quite rich, but worked well with fish and the yam gnocchi melted in your mouth. It was my first time trying elk and I think it was cooked well, just tasted like a special cow (pardon the weird description). Lastly, the carrot cake was probably my favourite dish of them all. I just felt it was a great way to end the meal, was quite refreshing with the yuzu curd and not a dense dessert. Overall, I don’t think the tasting menu was worth it, I’ve definitely been to better places. There were some good dishes, but nothing wowed me. I also felt they could’ve added some more light items like a salad or veggies to it, because by the end I was getting pretty tired of meat, it was definitely a rich tasting menu. I don’t doubt this could be a good place for their a la carte items, but wouldn’t recommend the tasting menu.

I do not have the words to describe this experience. This was genuinely one of the best meals of my life. From the unique cocktail flights and sake tasting flights to the dessert options, the experience was 11/10 from start to finish. The service is done in a way that is efficient, with every employee helping every table and bringing their expertise to every experience. Every single server was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and well versed in the menu and in the food. Every single dish we had was memorable and impactful, from the scallop topped with shaved lime ice, to the Korean rice cakes, to the Szechuan pepper beignet. I never knew what to expect and every dish was phenomenally unique, creative, and most importantly high quality delicious. Make sure you make reservations because this place earns its customers.

Celebrated a huge milestone in my life here and the restaurant provided the perfect amount of intimacy and deliciousness. The atmosphere was very chill, servers were attentive, and the playlist was top notch. The food was perfect - opted out of the tasting menu, instead had three tapas. This was a good amount of food, leaving enough room for dessert. Knocking down a star for the underwhelming dessert. The pre-dinner snacks were a bit questionable but I can’t complain as they were complimentary.

We got lucky and got a seat at the chef's table. The staff and service were outstanding. They were very attentive to everything, and their drink and food suggestions were spot on. Everything was spectacular. We didn't do the tasting menu because there were so a variety of choices to make on the menu. I think we did three dishes each, portions were plenty for two. I'd definitely go back for another visit. We'll worth the money spent!

Of all my reviews, this one was the most difficult to write. I enjoyed my experience at pidgin. Very attentive service, luxurious preparation of ingredients, and of course tasty bites. With that said, it's impossible to separate the restaurant from its city setting. As I'm enjoying seared duck breast, some of our most vulnerable and ignored are right across the street. My take away is to don't feel bad for enjoying things, but at the same time don't forget those who struggle. They're here too.
