I have nothing against the people who work there personally they are friendly and professional but I feel like they should do a background check on somebody’s companies they’re trying to place me or anyone with. The first place they tried to place we with I got hired for the job originally but due to the manager/owner of that company they completely screwed me over and they didn’t really do much when I explained their lack of professionalism and how they treat me. The second place they tried to sell me too I had to cancel the interview because the guy I talked to over the phone not only sounded rude but he was yelling at me over the phone! Lastly I think they should do a better job finding respectable companies that could help me in my job search sometimes I go more than a month from hearing from them and almost feels like I have to find somebody else ☹️

I booked a mock interview and went to great trouble to arrange childcare, practice for the interview, dress up only to find it was a student out of school conducting it because the original person it was scheduled with went MIA. The person conducting the interview was not very competent at the process - being just out of school with very little real world employment experience, didn't seem to have much professional experience as well, had no feedback to provide - at the end of the mock interview, I was told it was good. That was a complete waste of time. These people should be more considerate, professional and take their programs more seriously. People using your services sometimes have to go to great lengths to attend. Don't waste their time.

I have been going to YMCA Pickering for a few years. I find the front desk personnel very kind and professional each time I visit. The counsellors I have worked with are very helpful and often go above and beyond to assist you. Staff will often recommend other community services that might offer additional supports. Thank you YMCA Pickering for commitment to excellence and quality service!

Had a great experience when I went here, everyone was very friendly, supportive and I felt like they genuinely wanted to help. I had a mock interview and was also shown some great resources from the employment counselor and other staff. Everything I attended was a free service, it was really nice being guided and listened to. thank you! :)

I have always had positive experiences with the YMCA Employment Center in Pickering. YMCA’s excellent and compassionate staff make you feel welcome and are always ready to help. YMCA assisted me with counselling, training, mock interview, second career services and resume writing. My Job Skills Counselor assisted me with my second career application which had a positive outcome. Staff at the YMCA Employment Center in Pickering are always courteous and helpful. I would recommend their services to anyone needing any assistance. Thank you.

I had volunteer at YMCA for good 8 months. My experience was great with Mr. Jason Patterson (Job developer). He was an extremely professional, helpful and a positive person who really guided and supported me in my job search process. As an immigrant it’s very difficult to penetrate in the market but ymca helps you to gain the exposure. I even applied for a position at YMCA and was interviewed for it. Few days later I received a call from the recruitment manager that I have not been selected. Well, I totally respect their decision but to call the candidate and tell them that you are not selected was quite upsetting. Like nobody wanna hear over the phone that oh β€˜we would like to go ahead with another candidate’. Usually these things are communicated through email. I later emailed the manager and asked her what were my mistakes in the interview? Because as a new struggling person in this country, I was open for feedback. The manager was kind enough to reply me that she can tell me my mistakes. I even asked her to schedule a time to discuss but we never got a chance. Right after this I got a job in my field and I am still employed there but I will be always grateful to ymca pickering staff especially Markie Rousseau, David Morrison and Jason Paterson. They are very courteous including the front desk staff. In future, if I have a better opportunity to apply at YMCA, I will always consider it.

My experience with the center has been an excellent experience. I am always greeted with a smile by the receptionist. David Morrison my councillor is always available to help. He helped me update my resume and has showed how to modify my resume depending on the job I am applying for. I have recently returned to the center and was welcomed back.

They helped me on building a good resume, mock interview and etc. But they couldn't find me at least one job. I literally found a job by myself.
