Very comfortable detox center for drugs and alcohol. They have quiet rooms with tv's, comfy beds and good food

Top echelon of detox facilities. The staff/nurses are a god sent, they are very professional, in their medical approach, in dealing with the disease of addiction. Providing the patients with a safe, supported and secure location for recovery.

This place is not good for heroin, (real addiction). My girlfriend went there coming off a gram a day and they wouldn't even give her methadone because of her age (20). The place is not designed for severe withdrawal. They make you leave your room to eat, get water and medication. To get medication you actual have to go to the clinic in the facility and wait like a doctors office, then Wait until 1:00 to receive medication. You try doing that on day three heroin withdrawal. Too sick to leave her room the nurses don't come to the rooms so she got so dehydrated thy had to break protocol and come in the room to check I her and they wanted to call an ambulance because she was so dehydrated from being in there with no water unsupervised all day and night. The doctor was very unsympathetic to her. She had to leave sick after three days off hell.

Worst detox in BC! Staff treat you like a child and less than human. No there is no tv in your room. Nothing to drink but water which for opiate addicts is torture. One review is right not equipped to deal with real addiction. Rob baker the doctor has killed more addicts than he's ever helped! He owns sage treatment centre and Phoenix, clearly in this for.the money! Yes my review is harsh, but so is making profit off of this disease!!

Been an addict with many things, finally decided to get professional help. I withdrawaled from alcohol while I was there, they gave good medications that didn’t turn me into a zombie, the intake worker is amazing, felt comfortable enough to get 6 years worth of trauma off my chest and they didn’t let me go without having connections to the outside world (got me into different counselling programs, got referrals for the chemical dependency dr and much more) and they serve amazing food, and got me healthy. I would’ve stayed way longer than a week if I could have.

This is one of the better public detoxes I've been in. Generally a wait list, but expressing your need and desperation will often help push that door open sooner. They do medically assist your withdrawal should you need / want it. Methadone and suboxone tapers are available for opiate dependent clients (but if you don't have coverage make sure you bring cash to cover the cost of the taper!) ... nurses were kind, care was average. Food was below average and almost everything was previously frozen, tastes like hospital food. I was not allowed to bring any candy in with me - as an opiate addict this is difficult to take, and really makes no sense... honestly detox should be about doing whatever can be done to ease a person through withdrawal so they can get to the Next step. If candy helps??? What's the harm? Speaking of easing a person through, I also believe comfort is of utmost importance when in this phase of recovery. Withdrawal is painfully uncomfortable - so having crappy chairs, and a lack of amenities is also not helpful. Chairs, couches etc. were old and in poor condition, also not enough space for clients - so many end up sitting in dining room chairs. Overall a good place to spend 7 days healing the body before you start healing the soul, mind and spirit.

This place is caring and professional. I hate to say it but I have been there a few times over the years and it has always been a good experience as far as detoxing goes. Thanks to the kind and caring staff!!

They never seem to be able to actually answer any phone calls, I understand that here in Canada in our medical system there are a lot of wait lists but the one here to even get in touch with a drug counsellor seems overwhelming. I don’t suggest seeking help from the Phoenix Centre if you are an active addict looking into recovery this place is not the place for you. They seem to only want to help people that have already finished detoxing on their own regardless of the fact the Phoenix Centre is a place meant for detoxing. I hope they become more professional and productive and start genuinely helping addicts that are reaching out legitimately wanting help. I’m a recovering heroin addict I’ve called the Phoenix Centre more then 20 times in the past two months and still haven’t gotta as much as a phone call back from them.
