Pet Valu

Whoever it was I dealt with, employee, manager, or who I believed was the principle operator, was incredibly entitled, thought she knew much more than she was correct about, gave my client all kinds of incorrect information, potentially harmful, as the dog we had come in to purchase a harness for (she needed off the prong collar ASAP), was dealing with over threshold behavior as a result. Your tools do not do the training for you. That doesn't even make sense. Tools are never a substitute for actual training. Good tools are for management. Good tools allow you to start from a place where actual training can begin. If anyone, trainer or otherwise, tells you to strap a tool on your dog that will 'do the training for you,' run the other way. As in, away from this store and any advice their 'experts' will want to advise you on. To mention too she was incredibly rude, undermining almost everything I was discussing with my client, considering she was never invited into the conversation. As she pushed her misinformation on my client, I found myself having to shake my head and having to tell her (my client) what she just heard was incorrect. Whoever it was still continued to speak as if fact. The most harmful straw was when she told my client her dog should never walk in front, as she (the dog) is trying to dominate. How terribly old fashioned and I have said, harmful to my client, who politely listened, though we had much to discuss after our visit. She eventually started asking me questions, such as where I work, which went ignored while I continued to speak with my client. She asked later if I was a trainer, which I replied yes, and did not elaborate. Again, I had never invited her into the conversation, yet she insisted on pushing unsolicited false information on my client. I should have billed the store for the additional time spend dispelling the myths to my client after this annoying visit. It is no wonder so many pet owners struggle with their reactive and aggressive dogs in AB, with the number of dog training 'experts' such as this, including those who work as trainers (where my client had come from), slapping shock and prong collars on their 'dominant' dogs so these tools may do the training for them. Pet Valu doesn't have the best reputation anywhere as I understand, but this was the most alarmingly rude and entitled pet store employee I have ever encountered anywhere.

On Monday, March 1st, I went in with a vague idea of what I needed for the 2 parakeets I had just brought into my home from a previous owner. I explained the situation, showed her photos, told her what I knew and she was all over it! She told me what they needed, why they needed it, plus a few extras for the birds’ enjoyment! I didn’t get her name, but, she was very helpful and knowledgeable about the care and feeding of my new littles! Thank you Pet Valu Hinton for having professional, knowledgeable, and caring staff available to help with pet owners’ questions and concerns!

The staff here are quick to help out. The store was busy when I arrived during my holiday travels to replace a broken leash. The lady at the till called someone from the back to assist and we were back to our holidays in no time plus a nice treat for our four legged family member.

I recently stopped at this Pet Valu while passing through Hinton. The staff was quick to help and brought some of my items up to the front for me while I browsed (which was really nice since I had my cat in my arms). I was only there for a few minutes, but the customer service during that time was awesome! If I’m ever in need of more pet supplies while passing through, this Pet Valu will be my stop!

Used to come herelots when thenold staff was there. Hey were always so friendly and welcoming. The new staff are very rude and seem like they don't want to be there. The one lady made me feel terrible for not remembering what dog food i used to get. Never coming back!

I've gone into Pet Value on numerous occasions over the last couple of months and have been met with low energy, unfriendly staff. They just don't seem like they want to be there and hate their jobs. Any other pet value I go into, the staff are cheerful and happy to see my dogs. I won't be going back to this pet value in the future.
