From a Canadian War Vet. Short version. I was transferred from Deep River Hospital. When i arrived i was left in literally a storage room for 4 days on the surgical floor on a metal stretcher waiting for “emergency” surgery pretty much being neglected. Not even a bed.i was suppose to have surgery the morning after i arrived. So i was fasted for 15 hours. They bumped me repeatedly till friday evening and each day had to fast so i was starved each of the 4 days while they kept bumping me. Finally had surgery and the comfort of a bed for a few hours. Dont get me wrong. SOME of The nurses were amazing. After surgery was sent home. Realized i was given enough pain med for one lousy day. I called thinking it was a mistake. And asked for a refill. Was told to go back through emerg and wait 6-10 hours in emerg to be re assessed. “Because i should not be in any pain” Only 15 hours after a surgery on my belly that was not a choice. They refused to give me more without going through the entire process again and while not being able to get out of bed. This hosp is a joke and treat you like an inconvenience. Disturbing health care in Canada has gotten this bad. They should be ashamed of how i was treated. Take extra 20 minutes and drive to Deep River if you can. Unfortunately for me they had to send me to Pembroke for a CT scan. Deep river is wonderful hospital with wonderful staff.

I Recently had A Hysterectomy completed by Dr. Fadare at the hospital and had to stay for a night. I was very anxious but from the start of my first apt. at his office and meeting his secretary, they were very informative, helpful, professional and kind. Before completing the procedure I had a lot of anxieties. The nurses and anesthesiologist were very understanding and explained everything thoroughly. I recieved excellent care while I was there from the start until my discharge and felt the nurses went over and above to care for me.

I went to the hospital emerg with a broken lip and other injuries due to a bad fall on my back step yesterday at 8:15 pm. Got a room at 9:00 pm.. Not being seen until 12:15 by a nurse that sent me to CT on my facial bones and X-Ray, shift change Dr. ??? Came to see us at 1:45 to let us know the X ray isn't clear and they will give me needle for the pain and a Tetanus. No one looked at my lip, and even when we asked about stitches we got no clear answer. Was told to see a Dentist on Monday for my twisted tooth. Left the hospital after the 2 needles, and a splint on my finger at 3:15 am in a snow storm. We we t home and called our Dental office, and when he seen the mess in my face was utterly disgusted and stunned that they wouldn't have done stitches! I was at the dentist 3!!! Hours and he put 8 stitches in 2 different areas of my upper lip! Was told the X ray tech would call me to verify the pictures... still waiting for a call.. its over 24 hours later.

I have always known my confidentiality is not respected and experienced this again at PRH. My recent appt, I checked in as usual, provided my OHIP card, the pleasant receptionist asked me out loud if I was to see Dr. **...This seems to spark the interest of the same secretary a second time who is seated 6 feet away. She stops what she is doing for another patient looks over and reads the screen when my profile is brought up..right in front of me..must be some really juicy small town gossip. This was the same secretary who often leaves when I come out of an appt to schedule a follow up so I have to stand and wait until another patient is trying to check in...eventually someone has to show up at the desk. Let me donate you some privacy screens for the monitors, tell your hiring manager who I have seen lingering around your desk when I'm in the waiting room to do his own dirty work when collecting his intel on me and STAY OUT of my business! When I come for care, I am a patient, not there for a job interview.

Horrid hospital. I came here because of a suspected overdose. They had me waiting in the emergency for so long that I felt significantly better once I got it. All the doctor did was give me a gravol and dismiss my other life threatening health concerns. Please do not take your children here, it’ll probably traumatize them at the least. And leave them very ill at the worst. Atop of that, I had suspected that I had worms. Which I tried to talk to the doctor about getting a mere blood test or something of the sorts. And he simply dismissed it. A week or two later, guess what!? I find out I have worms. As well as this was before I had an Ontario health care, meaning I payed $800 for a doctor to give me a gravol and be dismissive about my health.

Yesterday I dislocated my elbow and have a concussion falling on ice! Every paramedic, nurse and doctor that attended to my injuries at the Pembroke hospital were patient, kind, caring and thorough throughout my ordeal. I am so greatly appreciative of the amazing, thoughtful, people who took great care of me and made me comfortable during my ordeal. A huge thank you to Dr. Daniel J Plante who attended to me, what a kind, caring doctor who took the time to explain my injuries and really cares about his patients and obviously takes pride in his work. I am grateful for the medical care I recieved from everyone! Thank you once again, Nicole Webber

I have never had a good experience at this hospital everytime I have gone there. The wait times are redicilous! I don't know why they ever closed the old Civic hospital and closed our walk in clinic in Pembroke. I now drive to Renfrew hospital and Deep River hospital which are the best hospitals to go to and they don't leave people waiting hours in their waiting rooms.

I have wrote the Premiere about this hospital and I urge others to do the same. This area is lacking for staff/doctors. Some nurses have lost their compassion and bedside manner probably due to being overworked. The wait times at the ER haven't improved much in the last 20 years. I once waited 12 hours to be seen, this time it was 5 hours. 5 hours sitting uncomfortably in pain is unacceptable. I moved away for 5 years and the hospital ER in other towns was less than 2 hours wait. Something needs to change here. Please write your local government over and over till they take notice to this problem.
