I can’t begin to say how many great things there are about Paus-n-Train. I am a veterinarian myself and without the help of multiple trainers from this establishment I would never be where I am today with my dog. I have done multiple classes with various trainers and I have learned so much that I can’t even begin to describe. The openness, the willingness and the patience that everyone has here makes it a safe and highly educational place to bring your dog for fantastic positive reinforcement training. I wouldn’t look any further if you and your dog are looking for classes of any type! (Almost 3 years and counting!!)

Loved the place ! The trainer knows what she's doing. She truly teaches you the good techniques. My dog was really afraid of the tunnels at first (agility) and the trainer made sure to not push her too much. She gave me really good tips at handling my dogs tendencies at bullying other dogs. Will definitely go back, I strongly recommend.

The methods used at Paus and Train are a really good fit for my dog and I. It doesn't involve choke chains or prong collars, and there are no angry words, stares and there is no yelling. Instead, it encourages positive behaviour by rewarding your dog's good choice and helping them understand that listening to you and following your direction is the most rewarding thing they can do. I adopted a very nervous girl, and it was very hard to tell if she had any training before. She was very shy, very timid and prone to cowering when she felt out of sorts. But sometimes she'd bark and lunge at the things that frightened her. Needless to say, our first few weeks were quite stressful for both of us. Six months later, and I am writing this with a very different dog playing happily in the living room. I saw improvements in BOTH our attitudes after Dog Manners #1-even when we had the challenge of having to move our classes online due to the pandemic. By the end of the session, both my dog and I were on new ground and both of us were much happier. She knew how to listen, and I could understand her much better. We decided to do Dog Manners #2 (again, all online), and I was very happy with how the classes were handled. I had my doubts at first, but being able to post videos and get feedback in between classes was a huge help. And I think my dog enjoyed learning so much that we decided to continue our lessons and take Rally Obedience. By the time that session ended, I felt like my girl and I were a solid team. I know this is a lengthy post, but I really feel the training method used, combined with our instructor's (Kim) insights, tips and feedback really worked. I feel like I have the tools to help my dog listen and work through some of the things that are still a little scary for her. But most importantly, I think it's given my dog a chance to believe in herself a little more, and understand that the world isn't such a frightening place.

Gwen Little and her team are phenomenal trainers. I have experienced both classes and private training and each have benefited my dog tremendously. I have a German Shephered rescue who is very reactive to people and dogs. The reactive rover class provided her with coping mechanisms so we can go in public without her feeling as much anxiety and the private classes helped us to work on specifics of the classes. I would highly recommend paus n train for anybody with reactive dogs, or even for just basic training. They are safe, respectful and ultimately the best option out there.

Gwen & her team are amazing at what they do! As an inexperienced dog trainer prior to attending their classes since last year, they've been incredibly helpful to us for our older dog with some reactivity issues, our puppy last year with puppy classes, obedience classes (both in person and online when lockdowns interfered) and even by email as we preemptively wait to start puppy classes with our newest dog. I've read some other people's negative reviews because I just can't understand how their experiences could have been so poor. I read about breed discrimination and I just want others to know that I don't agree with this at all. All 3 of our dogs are rescue mutts made up of shepherd, husky, bulldog (among other things) and Gwen always offers helpful information applicable to each of their unique experiences and struggles. Before attending Paus-n-Train, the rescue organizations we adopted through recommended "balanced" training approaches with various corrective training methodologies included in their positive reinforcement training and when we tried these methods, we found the dogs ending up confused and unlike themselves. After learning the tools that I have at Paus-n-Train, I am a much more confident dog parent and feel well equipped to help my dogs through any issues. Can't recommend them enough, thank you!!

Highly recommend doing the tricks classes! We did puppy school with Allen and wanted to keep growing his confidence and WOW was Tricks ever a great place to put him! He is more confident leash walking and being around people/dogs. It was also something fun to do with him in the evenings! He just finished his novice trick masters and intermediate tricks and we will definitely keep going. We have also seen his communication with us open up and our trust/bond continue to grow!
