Great Real Estate law firm, Jane is great as the lawyer. Surrounded by many clerks who are old style law firm model staff. Bring cash or cheque, I mean who doesn’t do digital payments?

Jane has helped us personally and professionally. We refer Jane to our clients whenever the opportunity arises. She is always thorough in her explanation and takes as much time as necessary to make sure everyone understands the process and what you are signing. Very disappointed with the way things were dealt when we used this company. The lawyer we had was helpful, nice and understanding but the receptionist wasn’t the same experience. We were bombarded by calls from the receptionist during our closing day; as we were moving instead of asking those questions to our lawyer. Which also ended up being unnecessary because it wasn’t in any of the conditions we agreed on when signing. To top it off, 2 weeks or more after closing and moving in our new house, they forgot to pay our mortgage broker and we were tracked down to pay it out of pocket when it should have been dealt with before getting the remaining amount. Very unprofessional and I wouldn’t refer them to anyone. You’re better off with a staff that is reliable and takes responsibility when messing up something as big as all of what we went through.

I am a very active real estate broker and have worked with Jane both professionally and personally for over 25 years. Her work ethic can be summed up by a story of one my clients.. her 90 year old mom sold her home and really didn't like lawyers. After her meeting to do the paperwork on the sale of her property she changed her mind about her views. She commented that Jane took the time to explain everything she was signing. She walked out feeling heard, respected and happy. Jane is a wonderful caring person who happens to be an amazing lawyer.

I have used Jane and her staff through 2 homes now.. the first home purchase was no issue.. this time around however I was not as satisfied. Weeks after moving in we discovered that the property taxes (3000+) we're not paid for by the previous owner and very over due... it stated on all the lawyers documentation that the property taxes had been paid and we paid our share... They just told me to go through title insurance and I have to do it myself and that was all, so I felt a little unsupported and super anxious about it. I was able to get reimbursed through title insurance thankfully. In our agreement it was also stated that the septic tanks (x2 units) had to be emptied and supply us with any documentation they have regarding the septic tanks. For whatever reason this was not done and months later we are out $500 because we had to empty them in emergency. They don't believe they are responsible for checking that because it didn't specifically say that the seller had to supply a receipt? After this incident I wanted to discuss the problems we've had and it took 3-4 weeks to hear back after calling and leaving multiple emails. I was pleased that Jane finally called back and talked to me about it however I'm still left feeling like something else could have been missed and that the reasoning behind the property taxes incident just doesn't make any sense to me... They don't check to ensure they are actually paid because then title insurance won't cover it... Sounds Bazaar to me! So they are basically falsifying documents by saying it was paid but they don't actually know? ?‍♀️ This left me with little confidence in this team and feeling like I need to babysit the professionals that I am paying to a job. Overall I do like Jane and she seems to be honest. One of her clerks/reception was quite short with me but the other (new?) Receptionist was quite pleasant. I hate to leave a bad review but I still have a bad taste in my mouth about it all, and people should be aware of these things.. the more knowledge the better.
