First time at the restaurant. Atmosphere is bland no pops of colour just an abundance of olive green patterned carpeting and olive velvet chairs and cream walls. Breakfast menu extremely limited in choices. Took 20 minutes to get water or coffee and that was only after waving down staff that were preoccupied with tables that came in after us. Then another 10 minutes to get water coffee and order taken 10 minutes after that. 20 minutes to get orders only 3/4 came together the 4 th -just toast and jam came later… Toast was hard and burned. The others felt their food was adequate but not Chef quality. The positive after I complained and the others chimed in was the manager compted the cheque. I likely will not go back.

Pricey date night regret Was so excited for a fancy date night out for a change and was really disappointed. The Oval Room Brasserie is way out of my husband and my normal date night budget but we saved up and were let down. Atmosphere had the potential to be lovely but were were seated extremely close to the table beside us, so close that we could hear their entire conversation at all times and vice versa, my arm almost touched theirs when I was cutting my food. Ordered 2 drinks and 2 appetizers, knew the drinks would be pricey but was still shocked at the cost. Appetizers came out and the server gave our calamari to the table beside us and gave us their burrata. We noticed immediately and alerted him. He took the burrata off of our table and gave it to them but they had already started eating our calamari so they kept it. We then had to wait for another calamari at which point our other appetizer was cold. When it was time to pay, the server made no attempt to compensate. We asked to speak with a manager but there was apparently none on so they took down our contact information and said the manager would contact us. No one contacted us. Very disappointed. Do not recommend!

My family and I came here yesterday for Easter brunch and we were all left a little disappointed. We sat at our table for 10 minutes before anyone came over to greet us even though there were only 6 tables in the whole restaurant. Finally, someone came over but they didn’t end up being our server and it wasn’t until the third person came over did we realize that was our server. Our server was nice enough but never told us her name and it wasn’t until after we paid the bill and tipped her did she try and chat with us. The food was mediocre at best. For the prices they charge (and the fact that this is a Fort Garry hotel restaurant) I expected a lot more. If you’re looking for a great brunch place in the city I would skip the Oval Room and go somewhere else like Clementine or Juneberry. Overall, a disappointing experience.

One of my favourite places to dine. The food is delicious, the cocktails are perfect, the wine list is wonderful. Service was a little slow on the patio in the summer but they’re on their game now. Always fabulous.

Hands down the absolute finest dining in Winnipeg. Service didn't meet our expectations, it exceeded them! Cristiano is a knowledgeable, talented and a personable bartender and server. Better service than any other restaurant we've been guests at. Highly recommend you discover the best service, staff, and experience in Winnipeg.

Where is the piano!!?? Went tonight for dinner with a friend. The remodel is so incredible and dinner was great. It was a really sad thing to see the piano missing - even if it would have been nearby playing, it has always been such a classy and wonderful part of the elegance and ambiance of going to the Palm Room - now the Oval Room. The other thing, you are really packed in there. There is not a lot of space between table to navigate your way around to get in and out of the room. Seating is so comfortable though. All in all, a great night to celebrate a birthday, I do hope some thought is put into putting the piano back into, if not the actual space, nearby. It is what I have always, and my friends as well, looked forward to. A decadent indulgence and a night spent in an environment reminiscent of days gone by.

Food was good although above average pricy. (Onion soup was $16). Market price for the Lobster Mac and cheese that night was $80. Mussels were nice and plump and the sauce was delicious. Burger was done well enough but nothing extraordinary and certainly better at most dedicated burger establishments. Good effort would be the apt description. Would definitely return but probably not as a regular go-to for dinner. Great option for an impromptu night out, especially when live music is available.

Went for my birthday last Friday. It was a really great time! The service was phenomenal, the renovations really modernized the lounge, the drink menu is FUN to explore, the food was delicious. We tried the burrata, mussels, oysters, pickerel bites, a steak, and the profiteroles. Everything was delicious. There was still so much left to try!! We will be back. PS. my partner said the steak was the best he has ever had.
