About Origami Accounting
In 2011, an Origami co-founder was struggling to complete the books and file a (late) corporate tax return for one of his prior businesses.
This hard knocks experience led to Origami Accounting, a simple idea that bookkeeping and accounting should be way less complicated and time consuming for Canadian small business owners. We launched in Edmonton on a wing and a prayer in late 2011. By the end of 2012, we had managed to sign up over 100 new clients. That was a great year!
In the years since, Origami has expanded across Canada to serve thousands of entrepreneurs and small business owners. We work just as well for small businesses as we do for businesses that aren’t quite so small anymore.

At Origami, we want to give small businesses the same financial insight typically available only to big businesses. And we think you shouldn’t have to pay an arm and a leg for it.

I really liked the idea of sending my info in the mail (in envelopes provided by them) and not having to make trips to see my accountant all the time. That’s why I chose Origami when I started my business 5 years ago and their competitive pricing was a plus! Great correspondence over email that would link me to my online portal on their website. All my financial statements were available to me on there and if I ever did want an in person meeting they were happy to set that up for me.
Recently moved cities and decided to go with my new shop owners accountant (as I’m a subcontractor) and having the same accountant for both of us just made the most sense. So even though I did just end my services with Origami (which was a lovely and easy process) I would highly recommend them to other small business owners like myself, or any size business for that matter!
