About OPA! of Greece McPhillips

We started with a souvlaki skewer and a dream

OPA! is a Greek word used to express happiness, and evokes the joy and celebration of feasting with family and friends. Since we opened our first location over 20 years ago, everything we’ve done has been driven by the philosophy of OPA!

The OPA! experience combines fresh Mediterranean cuisine with the friendly customer service we've become known for. We’re a quick-service Greek restaurant, but that just refers to the time it takes to serve our lovingly-made dishes. From the first bite, you’ll want to slow down and enjoy the moment with friends and family. We don’t just want you to love your meal; we want to have made a positive difference in your day.

I wish the young man with glasses was more clear on what I could order during my visit. I initially ordered a chicken wrap with a side of calamari for a friend, and he (the employee) asked me if I wanted to make the chicken wrap a combo. I said yes assuming the calamari was included with the caesar salad and drink combo. When I got home, my friend asked where the calamari was. I called the restaurant to find out. The young lady I spoke with clarified with me that you cannot order calamari as a side. I ended up driving back to order what I came for, but I wasn’t happy that neither the young man or lady apologized for the misunderstanding and the inconvenience i had experienced. I paid way more of my hard earned money than I planned to, yet there didn’t seem to be any level of remorse coming from the restaurant. Their energy and body language clearly appeared as they were just there to collect a cheque and ready to begin their weekend. Horrible experience overall.

The lady that took my order was so rude. I ordered calamari and lamb gyro to go. She gave me a plastic bag to bag my own order. The food lacked quality was all finished under 7 mins. Calamari was chewy and flavorless. I've been to other locations in the city and they are definitely better.

I went in on a Monday afternoon, with two people ahead of me, and one employee working. As I stood in line, a woman ahead of me got her food and made a snide comment about how, ‘as a member of the Greek community, she was disappointed by the service’. I was incredibly confused by the remark- she could not have been more wrong! Maria was excellent. She worked fast, and for one woman she was quick between the fryer and the grill- she changed her gloves in between each step, and washed her hands and changed her gloves after using the register, every time. I greatly appreciate the extra precautions she took, and how careful she was with her customer’s safety. To top it all off, the food was delicious, you can tell she put care and thought into the food she was serving, she didn’t just throw it in the container and hand it off. She took the time to wrap it neatly and place it in a way that I won’t end up with tzaziki on the top of my box by the time I get home. Even with the mask on, she handed the box with a smile. Maybe other people think that the extra time equals bad service, but I disagree. She took time because she cared about the food she was presenting, and it really showed.

Got a Chicken wrap and a Gyro. The chicken was done first and at least 5 mins before the gyro which i thought was way too quick right off the bat. Then, I complained the chicken was still very pink in the middle, so they take the chicken out of the wrap, cook it a little more and throw it back in the same wrap. The look the girl gave me when I told her she’s making the order again was hilarious. Plus I already ate half the uncooked chicken wrap. Who are you hiring at these places, someone’s going to get very sick.

Big fan of Opa but this location is a complete joke! -No quality in the food made fries were barely cooked and unseasoned. Meat in pita wrap was cold... -Portion sizes seem like a joke as well, very little fries and they are the only location that gives you 1 oz of sauce... Cutting costs and quality would not recommend this location.

First time at this location and was a bad experience ‘cause I love all the other Opas’ in Winnipeg. Salad portion - really small. Started eating and found a big ugly BUG in my salad!!! Aren’t you suppose to wash lettuce and how do you miss that?!!? Friendly staff though.
