90% of the people at this school go to good universities such as MIT,Harvard,Oxford ,Stanford etc. although they go though much pressure they may cope with it after.

The community of the school is amazing but if you're going there specifically for it's academic aspect you probably shouldn't. Although most of the teachers are top notch the stress put on someone pre-university is just unnecessary, it will hurt your grades as a rule and may cause you to lose scholarships you would have gotten otherwise. The admin at times are overly-zealous in their goal to have students who have no social life outside of school.

I was an applicant for this school and I was on top of my class, with advanced programs, top honours and having the highest grades as possible. I was also volunteering and have been on good terms for as long as I can imagine. I believe I had an exceptional chance at making into this school but overall my application process was horrible. Firstly, I was denied admission right from the start. I knew every single material that was shown on the test from the top of my head and had prepared by practicing PAT’s from the start of the year. Myself and a few other members of a society are in a belief that this schools admission process is in a way rigged. Many, and I mean more than majority of the kids seemed to have been accepted from one school in particular and other schools from some regions had almost to less than 2 to none of its students accepted into this school. We’ve heard many complaints from many families about the same situation, and that most of the students were already chosen before the test even happened. Its un-believable due to the fact that they aren’t able to release test answers in a wayβ€” which could also be online? I’m sorry to admit this but many other schools have similar admission processes and they still go through the process of notifying it’s applicants about the marks they received. We weren’t allowed to ask questions afterwards either, so I had a horrible experience. I’m glad I was offered admission somewhere else and that I wasn’t accepted.

Really cool old building, good teaching and staff, you will graduate with an Alberta high school diploma. Yes, everything you've heard really is true. School attracts far too many authoritarian parents - social milieu is relentlessly buttoned-down and status-focused. Students will do anything to pad their CVs. Look forward to crying in the hallways around exam time, especially if anybody gets a 79%. The famous IB program doesn't do anything to help applications to Canadian universities, and why would you want to go to school in the States? If you're a really high achiever, you'll succeed anywhere. The teachers are good and believe in what they're doing. But, like every magnet school, you're segregating kids based on academic achievement. Speaking personally, it didn't feel like a healthy place to graduate from. A specific warning: many OSA students are peer-pressured into choosing STEM after they graduate, even though their passions and interests obviously lie elsewhere. You will never come to love something you are merely lukewarm about, especially if you think you're making your choice for money. Beware!
