So when is the best time to use the Haakaa? I advise my clients to use their Haakaa to pull off some foremilk before baby breastfeeds if she has an identified issue with oversupply. This means, suctioning the Haakaa onto your breast for only a few minutes, then removing it, and then breastfeeding your baby.

Or use the Haakaa after your baby is done breastfeeding to help maximize milk removal and increase your supply (if desired)

Some moms find when they use the Haakaa independent of breastfeeding, it can be harder to trigger a let-down. If this is the case, try hand expressing first and once your milk begins to flow, suction the Haakaa on.

If you just want to collect your milk that leaks during your let-down, consider using a milk collection device or just place the Haakaa against your breast….do not use suction.

When it came to feeding, each baby came with unique obstacles and Leanne was there to help me successfully overcome both in the comfort of my own home. She is super responsive and understands that by the time you are contacting her you probably needed help yesterday. What I appreciate the most is that Leanne supports the family in their wishes regardless of which feeding system they choose (bottle, formula, breast) and does not share personal biases. What is even more incredible about Leanne is that she cares enough about her families that she can be available in a pinch. I recently found myself in a situation where I needed her expertise and she was there for me. I was having to go in for an emergency surgery and had a 4 month old exclusively breast fed baby at home. My goal was to have the operation and to not have to stop our breast feeding journey. This is no small task and Leanne was able to help me do it with success. This meant my husband had to bottle feed our baby breast milk that we had to purchase while I was pumping in the hospital. I was separated from my baby for nearly 48 hours. It was only with Leanne's' expertise that we were able to do this.
