I wanted a natural, unmedicated birth and I wanted to deliver my baby with someone I could trust, someone who knows me and my husband, and who would respect my wishes with regard to childbirth. I am very happy I met Sommer and Abby! They are very caring, attentive, compassionate, and very professional. We never felt rushed during our appointments, they took their time to answer all our questions (even the silly ones), they shared a lot of knowledge about childbirth, their website has tons of very interesting and useful resourses, and they were always very patient. Sommer helped us deliver our baby girl, and she was wonderful throughout the whole process! She was on the phone with us since my water broke at home, and she was with us at the hospital every minute after we'd arrived and until our baby girl was born! I felt very supported every step of the way! Abby visited us the next day at the hospital to check on us, and even though we had our baby during quarantine, she was still able to come for one home visit to help us with breastfeeding, and do a couple more checks on our girl. Postpartum care was very good too! Because of Covid, we had phone calls instead of home visits, but Sommer and Abby were amazing even during those challenging times, they made sure we and our baby were doing well, and were very patient with hundreds of questions we had about caring for the newborn! i don't know how we would have done it without them, they provide incredible care, and they are doing a fantastic job! I miss seeing them!

Sommer and Abby were amazing to work with! They navigated the constant changing information and rules with covid, as I found out I was pregnant at the end of March during the first stay at home order. They connected me with all the necessary resources throughout my pregnancy. When our home birth plans fell through because I had to be induced due to low amniotic fluid around the placenta at 41+0 weeks, Sommer gave us all the necessary information of what it would be like to be induced and what our hospital birth would look like. From pregnancy, labour and delivery and postpartum the team at New West Community Midwives made it a wonderful experience, especially during uncertain times. I would highly recommend this team for their compassionate care and attention that they provide.

Abby and Sommer are incredibly professional and caring people. They support our family all through pregnancy, delivery and postpartum. It was easy to reach them when we needed help. Thank you for being the most incredible source of support and encouragement for our pregnancy/birthing/post-partum journey.

We are incredibly glad we went with Midwifery care with Sommer and Abby. Being first time parents during COVID times, we had a lot of questions about the whole process and they were both very patient and understanding. They were also very respectful and supportive of all our decisions. Sommer was our main midwife and attended the delivery at RCH. She also did our home check-ins shortly after. We 100% attribute the positive experience and speedy recovery to Sommer and her expertise and calming presence! We very much appreciated the continuity of support and level of care we received.

I’ve used these midwives for two pregnancies now. Both times Abby has been amazing in seeing me through my deliveries! Not to mention the clinic visit care you receive. I’ve never felt more comfortable with a care provider. They are knowledgeable, I never felt rushed through and they really care about your time with them.

Abby and Sommer are amazing. I would recommend them to anyone who wants the best possible experience during pregnancy, labour, delivery and postpartum. We planned on a hospital birth but since we had our son April 2020 we changed last minute to a home birth. It was an amazing experience. I had done a lot of research and wanted as little intervention as possible. It was so nice not to have to go to the hospital at all! Abby and Sommer addressed all our questions and concerns and were always supportive. As a health care professional I appreciated how thorough they were with everything, all the while trusting that birth is a natural process. Postpartum care at home too was fantastic. My recovering seemed very easy and fast, no pain, which I owe to Sommer who delivered our son. You can’t go wrong by choosing this clinic.

When I was searching for a midwife when I first found out I was pregnant, I picked New West Community Midwives based on their reviews. They did not disappoint and were even better than I could have imagined! This was my first pregnancy and it was a great experience from beginning to end, thanks to both Abby and Sommer. Due to COVID-19, my appointments alternated between in clinic and phone visits, however, every appointment left me feeling well informed about the decisions I had to make and overall very excited. The appointments were never rushed, and they both took the time to fully answer any questions I had, and to explain each step of the pregnancy. I was given all of my appointments ahead of time, and they were always very quick to respond if and when I needed to make a change. Abby’s expertise during labour and delivery provided me with a very pleasant birthing experience, and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about that day. I wanted to do things naturally and as unmedicated as possible, and Abby helped make this possible. Abby’s words of encouragement and her ability to coach me through the pushing stage, made me feel completely calm and comfortable. She really helped get me through that stage quickly, and her professionalism definitely helped keep my husband at ease! Sommer provided us with at home care during the postpartum period, which was incredible and greatly appreciated during my recovery. Our questions were answered, and our baby boy was well taken care of. I highly recommend both Abby and Sommer! They are both extremely professional, compassionate and lovely people to be around, and will help make your pregnancy and postpartum care a wonderful experience.

I loved being in the care of Sommer and Abby during my pregnancy. Both of them were always very respectful, caring and supportive of all of our decisions. My husband and I had many questions and we always felt comfortable asking them whether by email or in person. They are very responsive to emails! My first time meeting Sommer I felt very seen and like I could trust her. She looked directly into my eyes and it just created a sense of trust and safety. Sommer attended our birth and she was AMAZING! Things moved very quickly and she took great care of me while my husband had to register me. Abby provided most of our postpartum care and she provided great resources to help me make informed decisions for my baby. I would highly recommend reaching out to these midwives so you can have a stellar birth experience.
