I'm here right now November/09/2017 at 2:13pm these guys 1st of all don't have a debit machine. Their clerks look soo frustrated. They seem to not know what their doing. Their line moves so slow even when you're the only one in it. Just not the type of experience you want to have with a bank. I haven't even got to the front desk yet anff i already know im going to have an issue with my transaction. No wonder they're rated 1.3 stars for a reason.

I really wanted shared the most incredible customer service experience which I have shared with the National Bank of Canada team Hoda, Sam, Schola, Jojo, Kase, Linda and the team at 6 AVE location past 10 month with the absolute ABOVE & BEYOND customer service level at its highest and all four should be recognized for their phenomenal customer experience!!! I most sincerely appreciate all of you for amazing exceptional customer experience every visit~โ˜†โ˜†โ˜†โ˜†โ˜† You guys are absolutely fantastic!!! Your awesome teamwork ROCKS!!! Update: I finally got an account after a month of BS, and they charge so many hidden fees, in 60 days I was charged 365.86. I submitted an online form 2 weeks ago; it told me I would receive a call back to book a time in branch; I went in branch they filled out basically the same info and scanned my id, wrote down my sin etc. He told me I would receive a call in 72hours from the 1844; it's the following Friday; they still never called me; I called the 1844 number once; after 15m the guy said he would call the branch and call me back; he never called me back; I tried calling them back, and they couldn't find him and told me there's no file for me and to call the branch; i called the branch and he said we could do the same meeting again; or file a new one over the phone, and I would have to still come in the branch another time again. So far wasted 5 hours travel/calling; still not even a file found.

Spent half an hour on the phone - mostly on hold - to be transferred to three different departments to finally have some peon tell me about my account (I know the details) and then explain to me how to deposit a cheque (been doing that for a loooooong time, so no help there) and finally another 10 minutes or so to find out his supervisor will call me in 48 hours. I'm not holding my breath. EDIT - 72 hours later and not a single solitary response. Customer service at National Bank is just plain stellar!!! This is the least convenient bank in Calgary, the least customer friendly (waiting for a teller to help you when you....are....the...only...customer....in....the.....branch is inexcusable) and the hardest to find (YOU find the front door of the downtown branch without asking). As soon as I can I will be moving away from this excuse for a bank. One big question - why is the new branch manager giving a 5 star rating? Seems a little inappropriate, does it not?

This bank is a joke. And not a funny joke. I had an insurance claim, so a check was issued to my name with the banks names as well. This is standard procedure. The bank had me sign the insurance check over to them and said they would issue a check for me once it cleared. It has been 3 weeks now and they don't know anything yet. At a real bank like RBC this would take about 4 days. The bank manager did not call the insurance provider and get the info that they required so their interests in my property where taken care of. Their internal policies are crazy and I am not sure if even legal, but I will be asking my lawyer. My mortgage is up for renewal but I assure you even if I have to take a worse rate somewhere else, I will !!! Please for your own sake, find somewhere else to do your business. Trust me you won't be happy if you use the National Bank.

As you can see from the other reviews, the National Bank is one of the worst banks in Canada. The tellers are not able to do anything for the customers. I sat in the bank for 49 minutes just waiting for them to cash a check for me. It always takes at least 10-15 minutes to get an agent on the phone, and they are never able to answer my questions. I feel bad for the tellers, as they face the frustration of customers but are unable to do anything about it. If you are thinking of opening an account here, think again!

Great bank that offers many services that suit my needs. Mortgage specialist, Yibin W. was excellent to work with, very knowledgeable and professional. He knew exactly what was needed to apply for my first mortgage and at a great rate. Now Iโ€™m owning my very first home. Highly recommended!!
