History
Cosimo Riccio, an accordion player by trade, played in various local establishments with many local musicians. Cosimo opened Music World in 1976 in a small store on Simpson Street with a focus on teaching accordion, guitar and drums. He began to expand into guitar and accordion sales as the music lessons became more popular. Fast forward 40 years and Music World boasts more than 500 guitars, 20+ drum sets, a large variety of digital pianos and keyboards, music books and thousands of accessories for all musical instruments. Our online webstore was launched in 2011 and we have shipped musical gear and accessories all around the world. Music World has been a permanent presence on Simpson Street for over 40 years and in 2013, we moved into our current location with over 7,500 square feet of showroom. From small beginnings, Music World has grown into Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario’s premier music shop.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awful experience, left me feeling pretty angry to be honest. I was in to compare two modeling amps for practice instead of my big tube amp, I came ready to buy if one impressed me. I was in the store for just over an hour and had only been trying amps for about 30 minutes or less of that time. Then a second salesman (owner maybe?) Came over and started grilling me about play all day at home but not here, spouting nonsense about retail business blah blah.When I explained I was trying to compare two products he said something along the lines of "I think you've done that enough already" Very unprofessional. I was there for an hour and six minutes total time, out the door back in my car. I checked i was so upset. I could MAYBE understand if I had been there for hours, but even then, instruments are the most subjective products on the planet, when I bought my les paul I tried 4 different ones of the same model because some of the frets were rougher than others. Its like the guy had never played an instrument in his life, if you want people to walk in and walk out, open a batteries and duct tape store, otherwise what exactly are you offering that the internet doesn't? Its a shame because the selection is decent and the other staff member was nice. But treating people that way turns them not buying anything into a self fulfilling prophecy.
