★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I cannot describe how helpful, affordable and wonderful my experience was at this store. I live remotely and I needed a set of studio monitors. I had about a grand for my setup. They got me a set of high quality monitors, a phenomenal mic, some cables a mic stand and a pop screen for $800. They offered me resources to help me with my music work and were all around helpful. If you live on van island, this is the music store for you. They are so knowledgeable and good people

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've been a fairly regular customer of this store for a couple of years now, and I'll be returning regularly for the foreseeable future. I've bought four guitars from them, had several set-ups done, and I'm about to entrust my archtop to Richard to install and configure a second pickup. They have also sold two guitars for me. I look forward to each visit to the store because the conversations are always enjoyable and I never know what sort of little guitar jewel I might find hanging on one of their racks. Any guitar player passing through Nanaimo owes it to themselves to visit Arbutus Music, and any who live here have no excuse if they haven't been there yet. One caveat for anyone wanting their guitar to be set up, repaired, or otherwise modified at this store: be prepared to wait a while for it to be done, because this shop is very busy and it appears that the work is frequently interrupted by incoming trade.

The two fella’s working last Saturday were both very accommodating and more than helpful, allowing me to try several guitars, (a couple more than once) as I was trying to choose between models. Highly recommend. ?

One of a few gems of its kind left, this place has a crazy selection of vintage and hard to find instruments, an amazing service department for setups and guitar work, and a really chill and friendly staff who know their stuff. Can’t say enough good things about Arbutus Music.
