About Muddy Paws Dog Training
My name is Amanda Labadie. I have been training dogs for over 20 years. Starting with my own family dog in the early 90's, and then moving on to compete and train my dogs competitively. It wasn't until I had a good ten or so years of experience that I started to teach other people and their dogs. I have taken numerous seminars and clinics on dog training and behavior, and am always working on myself and my own continued education. Dog training is constantly changing and evolving. It’s important to stay on top of those things!
I believe that training should be first and foremost about building relationship. A balanced relationship requires fun, enthusiasm, structure and consistency. Training should be fun- for the dog, and the handler. I use reward based training to get the best out of each dog- using praise, food, and toys as motivation. By using positive methods you not only create a dog who wants to listen, but you also create a thinking dog. My experience with dogs range from the smallest Chihuahua to Great Danes and everything in between. I believe that all dogs should be given the opportunity to be well behaved members of society and that it’s our job to help our dogs succeed!
I have multiple dogs of my own- many of which have Obedience, Rally and Agility titles. I compete actively (or as much as I can!) in various sports- Obedience, Rally, Scent Detection, Agility and Sheepherding. I am also involved with a local rescue group and have worked with many "problem" dogs.
For ten years I worked full time at a Dog Daycare. There I learned even more about dog behaviour, body language, and play styles.
All of this experience adds up to a trainer who has the knowledge to deal with all sorts of problems, and training issues. I have the flexibilty to create a lesson plan just for you and your dog. In just a few lessons you will have a better understanding of what makes your dog tick, and get to the root of the problem.
