We did the full loop today which took around 5 hours from ferry to ferry. I would go anti clockwise as there is a technical section and it's better to go up the rope rather then down. Also grab the trail map from the Vancouver trails app as this will help as there are many path options.

Mt. Gardener is definitely worth a trip. It can be a bit confusing to reach the top (especially if you try to improvise). There are many spectacular views on the way up. Bring banana bread and water to spend some time just capturing the complete astonishing views

Fantastic hike. The view from the top is fascinating. Hike is relatively easy but bit long. The very last section is bit more challenging but you can walk around it if you pick the loop trail. About 3/4 way you'll find a great view to the Sunshine Coast but on the top basically you have a 360 degree view for the whole area. You can park at the bottom of the trail but you can have a bus ride from the ferry. Back to back about 4-5 hours hike.

Absolutely amazing hike well worth the 2 -3 hour hike depending on your speed. Spectacular views of downtown Vancouver if the smog isn't too bad. Also can see the north and west to the ocean and the island etc from2 different wooden platforms that make picnicking very comfortable if there is room! Highly recommended!

Loved checking out Mt.Gardner, this was a two hour hike in one direction so just be aware that this hike will take most of your day. Very beautiful place and very peaceful, will gladly go here again.

We did this hike starting at the Bowen Island Trail Parking and using the South Side Express trail, which I think is a shorter and more direct route than others that can be taken, but we did so because we wanted to visit Riley's Cidery afterward and it's literally one minute from that trail head (which has a few spots for parking) so it worked out super well for those purposes. It was also a quieter route so we really didn't encounter many people until the later quarter of the hike. We also were able to see essentially three different viewpoints, each gorgeous and unique! The first was a great view of the island, the second a great view of the surround small islands, and the finale - the Mt. Gardner viewpoint was stunning. With the snowy capped mountains on the left and tthe metro Vancouver area on the mainland to the right, it was just spectacular and well worth the intense hike. I'm a novice hiker and my partner is quite a bit more experienced, but it was a good in-between for us, where it was a challenge but enjoyable for us both! We took about 3.5 hours to complete it entirely, taking short breaks frequently but keeping a consistent pace. The trail is well-marked with orange triangles on the trees to help guide you and the trail is well maintained. I definitely recommend this hike, the pictures honestly don't do it justice!
