★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had a most wonderful retreat lead by Dharma teacher Robert Beatty here. It was hard, it was good, and it was life changing. If mindfulness is your thing and you want to take it to a higher level and keep it real, take the plunge. It’s not for everyone but a powerful experience for the few who dare.
The retreat center is small but beautiful. There is a community garden and the place buzzed with bumble bees, butterflies were a flutter everywhere and an occasional bunny showed her ears. The housing is charmingly rustic - kinda like a summer camp of youth (or how one imagines such would be)
A few caveats: the food (in my experience, apparently there are two different cooks) is based on a vegan macrobiotic cleanse diet so if you need protein or are not trying to loose weight on your retreat, bring protein bars and protein drinks cause you are gonna get real hungry and start thinking those cute bunnies look good for eating too.
The toilets in the cabins are compost toilets but don’t smell bad as long as you use them properly. Make sure to ask for extra wood chips and compost solution if they don’t give you enough. Keep an eye on the TP supply and ask the cook to buy more if it looks like it is running low.
Being a swimsuit for the hot tub. Towels are provided but if you like think towels bring your own
