Awesome little trails. Loved the historic structures. Wanted to climb them, but thankfully there's a fence around the biggest structure. So everything is safe and easy to traverse. Reminded me of drake uncharted. Very cool!

We really enjoyed our quick stop here. Couple of nice rivers and the concrete pully system thing was really cool. There was an interesting plaque to read.

A unique step back in time to see Vancouver Islands last remaining coal mine standing structure. The historic park is set in a nice forest setting where you are able to witness nature take back this once booming industrial location. Nature trails circle the park and also a large trail system trailhead is located here. A nice way to spend a Saturday or Sunday

Nice trails. Currently (March 2021) the structure of the old mine is under construction, which is too bad. Lots of neat things to see, but wish there were more info about what the old broken down structures are.

Lovely easy walk. Very pretty now that the trees have their leaves sprouting. Would be nice to have a restroom or outhouse here.

Stopped here while we were waiting for the ferry. Really out of the way...but worth the drive out here. I had no idea this was here and learned about the tragic disaster that occurred here with the coal miners. Huge thanks to the mine workers out there for your hard work and sacrifice so that we can lead the life we live now.

Great walk to the Nanaimo River. Peaceful. Interesting industrial ruins restored recently.

A piece of local and national history hidden away! It's surreal to imagine this being an active mine back in the day, but the foundations are all still there for you to see! There's a few information plaques around the site, and they include old pictures of the original mine when it was being built. Short trail (2km round trip) through the woods and over two bridges leads you to the Nanaimo River. We saw four or five eagles, and found old rusty mining cart wheels! Not a very popular spot. No toilets or garbage bins. Please clean up after yourself... And your dogs! ?
