My family came to Canada in 2008 as part of my foreign work permit. After a year we applied for Alberta provincial nominee program and were granted such and proceeded in applying for permanent residency. However, my youngest had some medical issue being born profoundly deaf. (the province also granted my son a cochlear implant on both ears and became a hearing child.) The condition of my son was the reason why our PR application was denied by the officer. It was a serious struggle to fight for it and for the right of my son and of the whole family. It took more than 2 years of legal battle and stressful condition before we were finally granted our residency in 2010. From that time, we keep our status as permanent residents and have not applied for citizenship. We want to make sure that we will do it at the right time and ability considering the condition of my son as this may come up again with immigration. Last year, June of 2019, I chanced upon with my friend (and used to be one of our best co-employee) and known that he is now working and providing immigration services. This is at this point that I opened up to him our past struggle related to our immigration and I asked him if he can help with applying for citizenship. There were only simple words that I heard from him, “I will be very happy to help you”. That day was the start of our process for applying for the next stage, which is the Canadian Citizenship. We are proud of you as well. You guided us all the way to become Canadians and gave us a new beginning ?. By the way, Mr. Gani is a professional engineer in the province of Alberta too. Mr Gani worked on my parents parents case for both super visa and PR. It was a complex case and he decided to help us. He also engaged one other experienced consultant as he knew what's on the plate. Today, I got my student visa approved! It was such a dream come true to get my permit to study in Canada. I am flying soon to the province of British Columbia. WOW!!
