Mighty Minds Montessori Inc. - Calgary

Hi! I am honoured to have this chance to introduce myself, and I look forward to the day we might meet in person! My name is Alexis, and I am the founder of Mighty Minds Montessori Inc. I am blessed to be your child’s teacher in our Evanston School Day program.

I was born and raised in SE Calgary, before moving to NW Calgary in my University years. I attended the University of Calgary where I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. I have certification in Advanced Critical Care Nursing where I worked for many years. I have been blessed with a fantastic career, most recently by supporting adults through their journey to transplantation through case management and patient and family education.
I am a member of the Canadian Association of Montessori Teachers (CAMT), and I have Early Childhood Certification (Level 2) with the province of Alberta, Montessori Assistant certification, and have completed my Montessori Diploma (MACTE accredited) with the Montessori Teacher’s College.

It has always been my passion to watch children’s eyes light up when they have been excited by something they have learned or observed. Being around children makes my heart smile, but it wasn’t until my son was born that a spark was ignited in me.  As my son grew, this spark slowly grew as well, until it reached a flame that I couldn’t ignore! I began to explore the idea of opening my own child education centre. While I was “exploring,” I discovered the Montessori philosophy. I was fascinated by the philosophy, and everything about it immediately resonated with my own goals as a parent and my beliefs about children as capable, amazing little learners deserving of our utmost respect.

I decided to combine my Montessori and Nursing education, my talents, my passion, and my dreams to create an early learning experience that is truly unique; one that will inspire your child to reach his or her healthiest and highest potential, and have a fantastic time doing it!

When I’m not working, learning, or teaching, I spend time with the loves of my lives: my husband and my son, my dog, and my cat. I’m a lacrosse mom, and a “Martha Stewart wannabe” ? I love reading sci fi books and watching action movies. I am thankful for the mountains close by, and love to cross country ski in the winter, and hike in the summer. My favourite “date night” with my hubby is a night at the Comedy Club. We have a little piece of heaven (aka little trailer) at a family resort just north of here… you can find us there every weekend during the summer; kayaking, swimming, and eating too many s’mores.

It’s such an amazing privilege to be part of the lives of families and to be entrusted with the important task of nurturing your precious little person. Thank you, and I look forward to having the opportunity to meet you soon.
