I have to give a shout out to everyone at Mickelson National, and I mean everyone. This past Saturday we held our 12th annual charity golf tournament, this time at Mickelson National Golf Club. Our group of 24 golfers played 36 holes and the staff at Mickelson made this long and busy day an absolute pleasure. From the first preliminary planning discussions with Barry and Misha to the moment we left the clubhouse the experience was seamless, organized, professional and truly exceeded our expectations. What they offer is top-notch. The food between rounds was amazing, pre-ordered and ready so we could make our 2nd 18. They also hosted us for a trophy and draw prize ceremony in their restaurant afterwards, where we continued to have a great time. Mickelson has matured into one of the most impressive courses you will ever play… anywhere! For some, it was a return visit, for others it was their first time at Mickelson, but we all came away thoroughly impressed with the entire product they offered, we’ll be back! Calgary is so lucky to have a world class Golf Club like Mickelson National. I can’t wait to see everything else they have planned come to completion.

We had a tee time booked for 6 p.m., so had time for supper. It was absolutely fantastic. The drinks were cold and served promptly by our friendly server, Jess. She brought my son pulled pork tacos, while I opted for the smoked half chicken, with a chorizo sausage salad. She was very attentive and did her job superlatively! Absolutely delicious, reasonably priced and served hot, fresh and on time. Golfing was great. There was a bit of wind, but the views were great, and the course was in great shape. The pace was good-nobody pushing us or holding us up. The starter and the marshals were very friendly and informative. It is very close to Calgary, and when you can get a scrumptious meal along with great golf, you can’t go wrong.

I have been lucky enough to play some of the best courses in Alberta, but this might be the best one. So many interesting holes, incredible uses of the land, bunkering and water features to create a challenge. It gets tough on the back 9 but you always have a chance to make a few birdies. Well worth the price.

Joined here to end 2021. Really impressed with the challenge this course brings. Greens are among the best in Alberta. A few bunkers need a top up of sand but I understand this is being considered for 2022 A real treat playing Mickelson each round!

Pros: Beautiful golf course and very challenging. Awesome rental clubs. Cons: Expensive for the service provided. I rented a set of clubs and it came with opposite handed 5 wood/ recovery. Probably the most important club needed on all the long par 4s. Pro shop seems understaffed so I would recommend showing up an 1 hour to 45 min before your tee off to be able to spend some time on the range. I was waiting to check in about 15 minutes before my tee off.

I smiled through out my round! This course is awesome, and I don't use that word lightly. The 10 preview holes thatcwe got to play are terrific. Shot selection and execution are rewarded. The crew working out there are just as terrific. I thoroughly enjoyed and recommend this golf course.

This golf course was made by Phil Mickelson for Phil Mickelson. Wide generous fairways for those "nasty bombs" and green complexes that require creativity. I played the course during the preview play in the fall of 2019 and went out again to play the full 18...it did not disappoint. The layout is fantastic. Depending on how you're hitting the ball, you could play a completely different course day-to-day. For a course that has just opened, the conditioning is fantastic...better than some more established courses in the area. If I lived in the area I'd strongly consider a membership. They're going about establishing the club in the right way...focus on the golf and build out the facilities as the membership fills up. Looking forward to playing again as the course matures over the years.

Thought I would take advantage of the spring rate which was $125 for the weekend. There is a bit of a surprise in that the golf cart was another $50 or so thus $300 for two. The golf cart was old, loud and would suddenly accelerate when touching the gas. New carts next year but that does not help what we paid for this year. The greens were good, not great. With just twosomes, it took 1:45 to play the front nine, over 2 hours on the back nine. There was a very active and friendly course marshal who apologized. The problem is a drivable par 4 on the back that is almost an island green short, long and left so a huge back up there. There is also a par 4 where the tee box is well below the level of the fairway and so no idea if the group in front is out of range. They need to add a bell to tell the group on the tee box they can tee off. With foursomes, I suspect this will be at least a 4.5 if not five hour round. All of the staff were very friendly and nice. At $100 - 110 this would be good value for the money. But at $150, it overpriced. Played in the preview and loved it. The second time, there is no WOW factor. Great scenery but again relative to a Heritage Point or D'Arcy, they are charging too much.
