About Michael Sobocinski, PhD, Psychological Services
Since receiving my PhD in Counselling Psychology in 1992 I have practiced and learned in a variety of settings, including children’s residential psychiatric treatment programs, inpatient mental health, community mental health, and adult residential treatment for concurrent substance use and mental health disorders.
Teaching is also a passion of mine, so along the way I have been an instructor in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work and Human Service programs.
My experience in treating psychological disorders includes trauma, depression, stress, anxiety, substance abuse disorders, sleep problems, compassion fatigue, moral injury, and grief and loss issues.
I am a Registered Psychologist in British Columbia, a member of the Canadian Psychological Association, British Columbia Psychological Association, American Psychological Association, and the National Register of Health Service Psychologists.
Mountains and streams inspire me, and I can also spend hours in the ocean, snorkeling with the fish and following sea turtles. I love gardening. A perfect day is spending time with my family and my spirit animal Clyde (who is available by request for therapy – yours and mine.)
