Public speaking had been an anchor on my mind for decades and it was hard to quantify how big a fear like that affects us. However I knew it was significant and only growing. An online search had brought me to Metrospeakers and its there I stayed for over 3 years. True growth happens in a place that's supportive. The members there truly empathasize with each other and the level of humour in the meetings was absolutely top notch! I can say that my life would be drastically different, if I had chosen not to walk through those doors. My experiences there led me down a path of self exploration and ultimately gave me the courage to act on my passions. I've been fortunate to stay connected with other members in my time and to see their lives prosper both in their careers and family lives. If you ever start to feel the weight of that anchor, don't hesitate - the group here will help you unchain it.

The meetings are fun and have different themes! Even though most of our meetings are now online, it is definitely a confidence builder and good practice for me. I definitely recommend Metro Speakers if you want to take your confidence and leadership skills to another level!

Back in 2003, I was terrified of public speaking, so did some searching online and found this club. I reluctantly showed up and hid in the back hoping nobody would see me, but they called me up for table topics!! I'll never forget how bad I was trembling as I stood at the front of the room looking at all the staring faces. But I survived, and I was hooked. I knew that I needed to conquer my speaking anxiety if I wanted to reach my goals in life, so I joined that June day in 2003 and never looked back. I've been to Toastmasters clubs around the world and nothing compares to the diverse, friendly, and supportive atmosphere of Metro Speakers. I still enjoy visiting all these years later and am always impressed by the solid turnout and good vibes here. There's no better place to work the speaking muscles! ??

My communication, confidence, and comfort level have all significantly improved beyond my expectations. The members at the club are all very welcoming and supportive and I have made many new friends. If you are looking to improve your public speaking/communication skills, this is the place to be! We have recently switched to having meetings on zoom and I have been loving it! Till this day, all members are so friendly and helpful and that is what encourages me to attend the weekly meetings. I have also grown so much in just a few months, I have improved my public speaking skills and have become more outgoing. Metro Speakers has a lot to offer and I recommend this club if you want to build a community and improve your skills along the way.
