The debt came from supporting three children through their teenage years and going back to school to complete two degrees. No matter how it arose nor the fact I paid at least the minimums due diligently, it was unmanageable. My salary was better than I'd ever earned but still not enough to pay down the debt. I researched companies that help with debt and took a chance on the Credit Counselling Society for a few reasons: it is non-profit, local, and, so importantly, the Better Business Bureau reported that they have a long history with CCS and they gave CCS their highest rating. By now, I have been faithful to the program for 4.5 years and am now out of debt. It's an amazing feeling! My CCS counsellor made sure the repayment schedule was doable. Through her patience, kindness, information and realism, I saw that it was possible and that I could do it. She was right! I am very thankful to CCS and have highly recommended their services to colleagues and clients. Calling them was one of the smartest financial things I've done!
T	TK Goudie on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I would whole-heartedly recommend talking to a counsellor at the BC Credit Counselling Society if you are even thinking this is something you should consider- do it! I met with a counsellor and I will forever be grateful for the non-judgemental support and the clear explanations of options. I just answered my first "private number" phone call in years and happily spoke to the creditor on the other end. I feel I have a part of my life returned. I owe the friend who urged me to go to the BCCS and the counsellor who helped me take charge of my finances. I cannot say "thank you" enough to them! Make an appointment, you won't be sad you did.

I had no help in education and no help for financing in Quebec, also I came from Montreal 2 years ago to studying in English. A year after, Someone help me for Financial and that's help me for studying. I graduated last week (Certificate) and look to be borrowing to make my Master at University ... Thank you Fernanda !

(SmartianCity) on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Im hoping it wasn't just a result of starting our discussion differently than I have in my previous encounters with similar services, (because I had already learned that many of these services are not nearly as helpful as they often seem), but Daniella was extremely helpful, and even more so when compared to any the organizations I had previously been dealing with. She was significantly more open about her/CCS's role in the offers she put forward and did not try to make—nor let—her offers resemble any kind of government program or quick fix. This was probably the biggest difference between this and my previous attempts to seek counselling on the matter. Wasn't pushy at all, but rather very patient, helpful and had a lot of helpful resources on hand; all of which, I felt kept our meeting focused on exploring ways she could help instead of programs that could generate revenue. highly recommend this Society—This counsellor in particular!
