Merriam generally has a pretty good reputation, and I have also purchased several pianos with them in the past for my different studios. I've also recommended them to friends, family, and students in the past. I am a professional musician and studio owner and also extremely picky both with my instrument choices and the sound I want. Upon entering the Robert Lowrey Showroom location, my interactions with Mr Don Sevier were professional, pleasant, efficient, honest, and memorable. He showed me what a truly experienced and caring salesperson can actually do to make your purchase effortless. I would highly recommend dealing with Don at this particular location for your next piano purchase. I have also been to the other locations in the Greater Toronto Area and would only return to Don in the future. The arrangement, communication, move, tuning, and follow-up was top notch, as expected and was extremely appreciated. Thank you, Don.

I ended up buying a Casio digital piano from them, paying in full and was assured that it’s in stock and delivery should take only a couple of days. But it’s been two weeks and there is no estimated delivery date yet. The delivery company shows my package was picked a week back from warehouse, but Are clueless where is it now. If I was told about the delivery delays upfront I would have not ordered from them. For the same price i could have got from best buy or Amazon which have much better delivery service and notification systems. But now having paid at this shop in full, I am stuck. In short, if you are picking up a piano by yourself this shop is fine, but if you planning to use their delivery service. Better stay away. Use other online retailers. Very unreliable delivery service. Edit: after I called multiple times and post the above review. The store promptly reached out to me and the very next day the piano was delivered promptly. Edit: story of my piano woes didn’t end. Some keys In the piano were making rattling noise. I reached out to this stores service team and Kathryn was very efficient in connecting me to technician. Changing my review in light of all that transpired.

I was the only customer in the showroom at the time, and I was completely ignored by the sales staff... Not even a hello. I had already done all of the research on the model I wanted and was there to make the purchase. When I mentioned to a sales associate that I'd been sitting for 30 minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge my existence. He said, "I thought I'd let you practice for a while." I took my business elsewhere and had a great purchasing experience there.
L	Linda Kangas on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ About 30 years ago I purchased a reconditioned (and refinished) circa 1910 Baldwin grand piano from Robert Lowrey’s (now Merriam Music). The work that was done on the piano was impeccable, and I got many years of enjoyment from it. Last year, my husband and I downsized from our house to a condo, so the grand piano had to be sold. To my delight, Merriam Music bought the piano (now 110 years old!,) back from me for a very fair price. I replaced it with a beautiful Roland digital piano which is perfect for the condo. I never thought I’d be happy with a digital piano after playing acoustic pianos my entire life, but I am loving it! It is wonderful to deal with a company with such longevity, and incredible customer service .

I reached out to Barry Skinner and gave him my wish list of what I was seeking in the used piano category. Due to budget and floor space, I was seeking a reconditioned upright. And, by the way, these folks (Merriam Pianos) are experts at reconditioning acoustic pianos. Personally, I’d never buy from anyone else. You can trust their expertise, they’ve been in the business for years! But, here’s the most wonderful thing…Barry was able to ferret out a gorgeous reconditioned upright grand Heintzman for me. Before you knew it, the most special piano was sitting elegantly in my great room, just waiting to be played. The tone is exceptional. It was more than I had hoped and I was so lucky to have had Barry find and deliver this acoustic gem to me. Forever grateful.

We were served professionally by Don who shared his many years of piano knowledge with us and even after our selection made himself accessible by phone for our many questions. We had a variety of pianos to choose from and when we found "the one" Don was able to accommodate our design preferences by turning a glossy piano into a matte black finish with his expert hand-finishing capabilities. The piano was delivered on time and the whole process for this purchase was seamless. Thank you so much Don for your efforts to bring this beautiful sounding and looking piece into our home!

Brian at this location is remarkably professional and helpful. In addition to being knowledgeable of different makes of pianos, their sounds, key action, mechanism...etc., he is particularly patient, attentive and accommodating in assisting clients to select the right piano. He works well with every budget to find the piano to your satisfaction. After-sales follow up service is great as well. I am very pleased with the piano and Brian's service. Highly recommended.
