★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've now participated in 3 workshops taught by Kaitlin Deavy and would highly recommend them to others. Kaitlin is a very competent teacher and musician. Course content is well-thought-out and presented clearly, making playing the ukulele a fun experience! The workshops I've attended are: Introduction to Blues and Improvising (Parts 1-4), Introduction to Chord Melody and Strumming and Chord Change Bootcamp. There's a myriad of other workshops at all levels to choose from so check out the Mechanics of Music Studio.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have been a student of Mechanics of Music since I bought one of their Concert Ukulele Bundles in the Fall of 2021. I have found that their instructional staff are very knowledgeable and inspiring. I was a little worried that, as a mature student, I would find it difficult to grow in my ability to read and play music. I was wrong, because my instructors took a thoughtful and positive approach to accommodate my learning style. I was so pumped by my experience that I decided to learn electric bass as well as continuing with workshops that boost my ability to play baritone ukulele and acoustic guitar. I understand more about music theory and playing technique than I ever had from other instructors and institutions. I would recommend Mechanics to anyone who wants to experience the joy of making music, not just listening to it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have been taking piano lessons with Kaitlin via Zoom. As an adult learning piano for the first time, she's been kind and gentle with me as I'm learning a whole new set of skills. She's also open to my suggestions about pieces to work on (Vince Guaraldi's Linus and Lucy is really hard and I'm hoping to be competent by next Christmas). My daughter is also taking guitar lessons in person, and is very happy too. I'm happy to recommend Kaitlin.

I’ve enjoyed having Kaitlin as a teacher. She is a good musician and is knowledgeable about music theory. I have found her to be well organized and always well prepared for the classes. She’s patient and enthusiastic about teaching and open to hearing what her students want to learn. There’s a lot of variety in the lessons and she makes the classes fun. She makes good use of social media to reach her audience with her band, Cat Murphy Band.

Kaitlin utilizes fun and innovative techniques to encourage our daughter to experiment with sound and her voice. She fosters our daughter's interest and willingness to practice by incorporating opportunities for her to learn music that is interesting and important to her ("Dirty Old Town" by the Pogues) and by scheduling times where she can showcase her new skills to us.
