I meet here for lunch with eight elderly gentlemen and have done so for years. The menu is varied, food quality very good, the service is caring and attentive. It's a busy place with reasonable prices and a warm ambiance. We will continue our patronage. None of us has a financial interest in the restaurant.

Visited this eclectic cafe in November on a little island get away. The location is a bit off the beaten path but worth it. Service was very friendly, coffee and tea was tasty and efficiently refilled as needed. Server offered suggestions for choices based on our desires. We had the halibut and lime wrap with fries which was cooked and assembled to perfection. Highly recommend this. We also had a halibut burger with fries, the server suggested a small addition of coleslaw to the burger to 'amp up' the flavour experience. She was not wrong, absolutely delicious burger with coleslaw. French fries were crispy and fresh. Highly recommend this place for any meal.

You get alot of food for not to bad a deal I end up taking home a doggy bag. There is a daily special for lunch and supper. The servers are very friendly and some have been there a few years. They also have a musician on Thursday nights I think it is. Can always phone and find out. All in all its a great place to eat visit and enjoy

Our first meal after the ferry ride. They turned the parking lot into outdoor seating with large tents and umbrella. They table was good for car watching. Not all the servers wore masks. Our server was efficient. We ordered two chicken club sandwiches. I was worried that multigrain might be a bit dry, so I chose sour dough. The sandwiches were tasty enough. Mine was on the dry side – the chicken meat was dry, the bread was dry, and the bacon was dry. My mouth felt really dry afterwards.

Fun and friendly, good home cooking fare (shephers pie, fish and chips, pulled pork) done just right. Nice place to chat with friends over yummy food and a few drinks.

This restaurant is a long and well established locals hang out. And for good reason. Located minutes from the ferry terminal and just off of the highway, it's a home converted into a restaurant and a great place to meet up with family and friends or to just swing through for a great meal in a wonderful relaxed atmosphere chocked full of airmen history. The food is plenty and prices reasonable. And the servers make you feel right at home. Two thumbs up!

This place is tucked in Sidney! To be honest, we couldn’t find a dining spot at Surly mermaid & we drove here as they had walk-in availability, and we’re glad we did! The hostess was very warm & informative! She quickly ID’d & checked our vaccination status! We had the BBQ grilled chicken sandwich which was on their chefs special, Broccoli coconut soup & garden salad with beets , Candid pecan & cranberries! The food was really amazing & the sandwich bread was soo fresh! We had ordered the Mac & cheese for our toddler & she partially immersed herself in it! The sourdough was probably baked in-house & was spot on! Overall it was a no-fuss, VFM brunch spot! We did see a lot of elders dining in, and a few who were regulars!

I'm a fan of Mary's. I have been a fan for a long time and actually think of it more of a pub than a cafe (I know it's not a pub). Even though my friends and I don't live nearby, it is a place we make sure to visit when we are on the Peninsula. The food is good and we have always liked the staff. I think I've been consistently happier with the regular menu items than the specials, but even some of the regular specials have been impressive. Granted, I haven't experienced many of the specials on the last decade - so let's just say that I know their regular fare, I do like their regular fare, and I go out of my way to get it when I can. Mary's is the type of place that people love to come back to. My parents and their friends would come here often (and my mom took us here just recently). My friends and I did a lot, and still do, and I know the staff get to know many people all around because there return. It's the type of place where you drop in for a bite, you have a good time, and you're happy you made that trip - so you know you want to do it again and again!
