About Maki Maki Japanese & Vietnamese Restaurant

Maki Maki was first introduced to the Edmonton restaurant scene in January of 2009. This was the year that Ann Chang would fulfill her vision of opening Edmonton’s first and only Japanese and Vietnamese restaurant. Wanting to “mix it up”, Ann and her team at Maki Maki just off Whyte Avenue on the south of the city are proud to have a fusion of both popular Asian foods and also have western items on the menu for those who prefer fries over pho.

Maki Maki stays open late on weekends, until 2am! Encouraging the welcoming atmosphere are drink specials in the lounge that now has its own unique vibe, complimentary to the restaurant. The lounge is now available for private party reservations with a generous patio for the summer.

At Maki Maki you can expect the highest quality sushi flown in fresh from the coast, delicately prepared for visual as well as palatable pleasure, and served with a genuine smile. Thank you Edmonton for your continued loyalty. It is our honour to serve you the best sushi in Edmonton!

The ambience is perfectly serene with some Filipino music in the air. Servers are polite and attended to our needs in very timely fashion. Didn't notice if there's parking space as we parked by my friend's apartment. Downside with plenty of customers, you got to lineup to use the washroom. Overall, it was a pleasant and filling experience.

Edit: Ordered again for the first time in four months and the food is back on top! I had missed my Bun Bo Hue. New photo. 5/5 My wife and I have been ordering from and eating at Maki Maki for seven years. In the last year the quality of our orders has substantially decreased. In our last three orders: We were sent the wrong broth with our pho, we then received sushi rolls that smelled like stale fish (previously never an issue), and just now I received my favourite 'Bun Bo Hue' without the usual "spicy lemon grass broth" instead it is a portion of Maki Maki's standard broth with an underwhelming two table spoons of extras thrown in at the last moment before sending it out. The broth is not spicy, there isn't a hint of lemon grass, and the flavor this soup used to pack is completely gone. Service has been fantastic in the past, and may be again, but we're looking for new sushi and pho shops. 2/5

I had miso soup and rainbow sushi. It was very tasty. The tuna in specific is delicious.

Was craving some sushi and pho and generally opened late night as its by Whyte Ave. Ordered the pho dac biet along with dynamite roll. The roll was decent, I noticed the rice was a little overcooked as it seemed a little mushy but overall the tempura was very crispy. The pho was amazing though. $13-$14 one size only for a GIANT bowl of pho that I had to pack to go as it tasted really good and I couldn't finish. I can tell their broth has been simmering for a long time. Great place for Vietnamese and Japanese food all at once. Will order their bubbletea next time for less than $6!

Dined in with my family for pho and ramen for the first time. Big portions and quite tasty compared to most places. Service was good as well. Idk if we just came on a good day but our waters were always filled and we were checked up on once in a while even though there was quite a bit of customers that night. There was only one male server who my Dad asked what kind of beer they had and the guy never came back. Not sure what happened there LOL Other than that, it was a great experience as the restaurant had nice interior and for the price, it's pretty good for the pho and ramen. Huge portions! My brothers always finish theirs but they struggled this time ?

Great sushi place just off whyte ave! Great selection of sushi as well as other Japanese and Vietnamese dishes. Has been an Edmonton staple for years, and for good reasons: friendly service, fair pricing, and good quality. Try the dragon rolls and takoyaki - you can’t go wrong!

Good service, good food, good prices. What else does a hungry person need? Had been a few yrs since I had visited this place and glad to see it's still around. It has been recently renovated so everything looks nice and new. Being a Monday and lunch time it wasn't as busy which worked best. Definitely recommend it
