★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A decent high school, albeit overestimated.
Students are enrolled into the IB MYP program, which encourages an open perspective on the world and places strong emphasis on both life-long skills and persistent knowledge.
Nevertheless, the quality of this school's international program is significantly lower than seen elsewhere. This has much to do with the ministry of education's program constantly overlapping the IB's assessements. Be thus aware that students might develop performance anxiety and perfectionism.
While several teachers have proven to be inspiring and artful guides throughout the years, many others have shown a dismotivating dullness which sometimes makes staying concentrated a challenge.
Whereas the students have a voice through the Student Commitee, their influence hardly goes beyond holidays and "color days" (days without uniform). Besides, the school's personnel has a tendency to enforce rules of little purpose, such as not wearing a coat in class, with extreme severity.
Lucille-Teasdale's cultural background is very diverse, with students coming from all around the world. Politics are rarely discussed in the classroom, but, like in most of Quebec's public institutions, the teachers seem to favour a slight to moderate bias towards the left. Liberty of expression is widely encouraged, with several projects asking students to reflect and debate on the scientific, philosophical, and moral implications of various topics of interest.
Overall, Lucille-Teasdale is a respectable institution, but take not its promises of glory for granted. Its lack of per-student follow-up will require a greater effort for the student than in a regular school, that much is certain.
I do believe, however, that the IB's values its program carries are most beneficial to the students. They surely were for me.
Fear not Mrs. Lopes's infamous entries; they will grow on you with time.
