Lisgar or "LCI" is one of the best high schools worldwide. Coming from a rural school in remote African village in 1970, it was a family and school for me. The teachers examplified by Mr. David Lamperd who spent lunch hours teaching me sciences were most helpful. The history, international community(mini United Nations) and the spirit of academic excellence, leadership and sports is incredible. Proud an blessed to be part of this great school!!

Awesome school with a great work environment and staff. It's close to a lot of stuff downtown, which is also great! I'm loving Lisgar so far. PS: Join Spacesim pls and thank u

Finding a quiet studying place with desk and chairs is a regular struggle at Lisgar. Students on their spare are personae non grata in the library and get booted out to make room for classes.

Patsy Agard and her staff (specifically the guidance team) are completely incompetent. I hated every moment of my time at Lisgar and was often victimized by staff for my mental illness and home life. If you are a privileged kid with engaged parents, you'll be fine; everyone else can expect to cry on Lisgar property at least once a week. If you're lucky you might end up in CHEO from the negative environment.

Best high-school I've been to, although to be fair I've only been to 4 for an extended period of time so my judgement might be misguided. It probably has the same problems as all the other high-schools such as stress but that's probably because I'm procrastinating on exams right now. Usually it's relatively chill.

First of all, hard grading system and rigorous academic expectations do not mean it is a bad school. It's where you can expect yourself to be suitably geared up for university. Having spent the last 2 years of high school there, gotta say it's a great place - no bullying, and a serious mindset to both academic and all-round personal development. There's a lot you can extract here even under such a lackluster and painfully unchallenging provincial curriculum. The teachers I've had are always more than happy to build up their students. Expect most of your classmates are not from the school's catchment area but from the inner and outlying suburbs.

Be prepared for an environment that is rife with ableism & casual racism. Elitist white parents love this place because it enables a de-facto form of segregation to subsist on the basis of class/socioeconomic status, and many have no issue commenting on how they don’t want their children to “mix” with the non-gifted students. You see clear and evident divides in terms of socio-economic status between the non-gifted and gifted students, where the former are treated as “lesser” human beings than the latter. Most of the people in the gifted program would be in enrolled in a private school if it weren't for the "gifted" program, and there are clear discrepancies wrt how much respect and humanity students are to be afforded based on arbitrary notions of who is considered "intelligent" and who isn't. This school also loves to tokenize people of colour to make it look like there isn't an issue of systemic institutional racism.

The provincial curriculum is so easy that it's not hard to succeed at this school. You get your usual diet of ideology, social-activism as you would at any school, the same self-declared philosophers who blurt out "there is no such thing as an objective truth, morals are relative" kind of stuff. You get the usual bombardment of "diversity, equity and inclusion". Since it's as bad as all public schools out there, it's good.
