Love the creative here. So far the most interesting in this area that I've been to. It appears to be the newest, love all the grassy fields surrounding it(soccer fields) there is a washroom and garbage cans!

Lions Can-Amera Park A Review by Hassan Hawash Now, that was a storybook snapshot of a Canadian winter evening under the lights. We were just days after a real statement snowfall this past Monday as if to say winter has made its mark here in Cambridge and its presence what with a dump of up to 40 cm. Schools remained, on the Monday, closed due to poor driving conditions. On this Wednesday after all the weather drama, the conditions turned very favourable for a father son outing. The mercury only just dipped down a couple of notches below zero and it started off as a very calm evening. We were in great anticipation as we set off on foot on the now cleared sidewalks to make our way down Saginaw Parkway to the Lions Can-Amera Park for a bit of puck and stick. Soon it was up the footpath along the trail to where stood the sheet of ice and the benches where we would be lacin’ ‘em up. As we walked, Joud exclaimed ‘Dad, there’s light! We can stay longer.’ The lil fella had been urging us to leave the house thinking our outing would be subject to when night falls. Joud was bursting with anticipation. He had his pair on in no time. ‘Hey, there’s Kayden and Jax.’ Already, we had what we needed for a game of keep away. Hadn’t been on skates for a while, but the legs were doing it again. Muscle memory was slowly coming back and even started to notice that grinding sound as the blades hit the ice with each stride, cutting with each tight turn. Joud absolutely loved being out on the ice again after about a two week little ‘pause’. More and more kids joined the fray of puck possession. I took a time out and marveled at the passion the kids showed for the game despite nothing being on the line aside from the sheer joy of some fun, some physical exertion, some friendly competition. Kudos to the City of Cambridge who prepared this sheet of ice for the community to enjoy and community it was. Many a parent, Tim Horton’s in hand, with folding chairs too at the ready, there supporting their son or daughter’s chance to exercise, to hang out with friends and make acquaintances as we did. By the end of the two hours we were there, the wind had picked up, the chill set in and we were especially feeling it. You know it, eh? Fingers were starting to get that tingle turning oh so pink, nose and ears were feeling a touch of the freeze and, of course, the rosy cheeks. Unlike when we arrived, upon taking our leave it was, ‘Dad, could you get my skates off?’ A little testament that winter had indeed arrived in the opinion of these two Winnipeg winter hardened hockey rink rats. No worries though. Father and son were heading home in anticipation of a warm bowl of chili con carne and a cup of hot chocolate. It was an evening well spent and we are looking forward to a return visit to the sheet of ice at Lion’s Can-Amera Park.
