About Leston Holdings (1980) Ltd.

Dinika started her career at Leston Holdings at the young age of 8. Her first job was sitting next to her dad, Les Mitton, opening mail and addressing envelopes. While attending University, Dinika continued to work for the company and took pride in learning all aspects of the business. After graduating from the University of Alberta, Dinika made a lasting commitment to the company, took on a senior role and has enjoyed working with David ever since. Dinika has worked hard to establish Leston’s corporate governance, and has assembled the framework for the property management and maintenance departments. Through strategic decision making, she guides senior management in their implementation of new policies and procedures that make Leston Holdings one of the top private-sector property management companies in Edmonton. Now married with four young children, Dinika continues to play a key role in the day to day operations and growth of the company.

My experience with Leston Holdings has been confusing. For a time they were good landlords but not so much anymore in my opinion. They gave everyone in my building written notice to vacate so that a new development could go up. Which was unfortunate since it's a pandemic but ultimately fine, things happen. So my property manager and I agreed that I would move out as they requested over the course of November, that they'd give me my damage deposit back, and that I wouldn't have to clean the place on moving out. That all seems reasonable for a building that will be torn down, yes? Well now comes the first problem - a month and a half before they wanted us out they told us that the development had been delayed and that we could actually stay. Now since I'm not a maniac I had already found a new place to live and I told this to my property manager and she said she understood. She had forgotten everything else she agreed to when we first discussed the move out so we went back over everything. She said she may have made a mistake and that she needed to talk to her superior who was already gone for the day. I figured I would give her a bit of time to figure things out. Now comes the second problem - during the time I was waiting to hear back from her she left the company. My building got a new manager and I immediately sent her all of my emails with the old manager, an explanation of the situation, and I asked her to let her supervisor know what was going on. It took her a while to get back to me which makes sense since she's new to the job but when she did get back to me it was (insultingly?) obvious that she had not read my email or the emails between me and her predecessor. We went back and forth for a bit about everything and I did my best to clarify things (I believe I was successful in doing so). Well here's the third problem - I haven't heard back from her in two weeks and November comes ever closer. Which is why I'm writing this review. I feel I've been quite patient and I'm not sure what else to do at this point. Seems like an unfortunate way to treat a tenant after kicking them out of the building in the first place. It's not like I wanted any of this! Thanks for reading :)

I moved from one Leston property to another as I had had good experiences. I have deleted my previous review as I no longer recommend Leston. I had cleaning expenses deducted from my damage deposit, as was mentioned by another reviewer, which is illegal and falls under normal wear and tear. When I asked for further clarification as to why I was charged for 2 hours of cleaning (as my family came into town and we spent 24 hours cleaning the unit prior to the move-out inspection) I was given a generic answer. When I pressed further I was told I'd be put in touch with the director, and I've never heard back. That was May 21st. While still living at the first property, I received an email about a tenant referral bonus incentive. I referred a coworker who moved in. AFTER their lease had been signed, I was told that I'd have to wait 3 months before they could issue the bonus check. Now it's been 3 months, and after following up with the property manager 5 times I'm being told they won't honour it. Unbelievably disappointing, through and through. You will be losing a tenant.

I have been a tenant in two of Leston Holding's properties over the last 5-6 years and have had nothing but positive experiences. Something I particularly enjoy is they provide a maintenance sheet every once in a while where the tenant is able to address the issues with their property and then it is promptly fixed. I have never seen another property management company do this and I have been renting for over 12 years. I also think the quality of the apartment rentals for the value is unreal. Definitely a great property management company to rent from!

I’ve lived in 2 separate Leston buildings. No clearing of parking lots. Lack of security got my vehicle broken into 3 times at twinpines. Call the Manager the first time to get help with no luck. So the next time I didn’t even bother with it but the third time is this morning. I really can’t wait for my lease to be up 5 months in ?‍?

Horrible company to deal with. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. They took over management half way through my lease. Ownership swapped…that’s where everything started to change.. Nothing really maintained. Hallways never cleaned. Sidewalk barely shoved. It’s funny how they’re quick to take money from you. But when it’s the other way around they are no where to be found. Did our last “walkthrough” with Elizabeth who was managing our building, said we have to pay cleaners to clean the apartment and will be taking it out of the damage deposit. ALMOST a month later and nothing. Tried reaching out to Elizabeth. Got back to us once and ignored us after that. Her excuse was “the site was down and we didn’t have your phone number”. hmm that's suspicious. But yet you guys can post up new viewings on Facebook. “GREAT” services guys. I still don’t understand how the rating is high. I would give no stars if giving the option. And reading all the reviews looks like I’m not the first one they’ve done this too. STAY AWAY FROM THEM Edit* it’s been 5 months. And still nothing… they must be really really hurting for the deposit that bad….. I like how the owner can reply to other comment but mine and others who gave them a bad reviews. Scammers!!!! This is how you should treat your old tenants!?!? I’ve should’ve broke my lease when I had the chance leston took over.. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THEM AND SAVE YOURSELVES THE TROUBLE!!!!

My upstairs neighbours are extremely loud EVERY SINGLE NIGHT, I’ve placed multiple complaints to the building management and don’t see any changes, for almost a year now. Even though the building itself is okay and the maintenance team is great I cannot recommend Leston if only you don’t want to have sleepless nights.

And again. They must not vet their tenants anymore because the one whose been here for only a week had a domestic fight with a drunken friend she shouldn’t have let in, and I had to call the police. On a Tuesday. Adjusting again as things have calmed down. I am still not thrilled about how the previous incidents were handled (not promptly) but the new building manager is very responsive and was very receptive to my requests with heating this year. I like this building, the mix of neighbours is decent, and for an affordable apartment building, this does beat the other two typical big players we have in Edmonton. Adjusting my review to reflect a few things, primarily what appears to be a relaxed attitude towards acceptable tenants. Two moved in at the beginning of the year, one of which was arrested and subsequently released and the other who invites 5-10 family members, once during lockdown, who treat the building like their own hotel room to party in, leave cigarette butts everywhere, make a mess of beer cans in the parking lot, and just this past weekend, a 5am fight! I have known Leston Holdings as a very reputable property management group in Edmonton for a while now and recently found myself in a position to rent from them. From the beginning, the process was straightforward with Nedy handling the leasing procedures. She was informative and prompt, and any question I had was answered immediately. My property manager, Cassandra, is welcoming, friendly, and prompt in any assistance I have needed thus far. I've also met a few members of their cleaning crew and maintenance crew and everyone has been very nice. The building I am in is smaller, and it's nice to feel like it has a little bit of community and consistency for those who are in it. The building itself is excellently maintained and clean always, which was one of the first things that impressed me about it. I am personally a bit cautious about property management companies, but I have always known Leston Holdings to have excellent standards, and I can now vouch for that first hand.

Leston Holdings is not returning my emails or calls, and it has been over a month. Is this the kind of service you want from a landlord? Edit: Thanks for the response. I've already directly emailed the person I am looking for more than once, and cc'd your general info box, so I will decline your invitation to engage in an even more convoluted contact process. Cheers!
