Lava Hair is a dynamic boutique hair salon located in the trendy neighbourhood of Marda Loop, Calgary. We have been in business since 2004. Our highly experienced and certified team of Hair Stylists consists of Junior, Intermediate, and Senior Stylists have a variety of educational backgrounds and specialized skill sets.
We are dedicated and continuously committed to providing high-quality services, experiences, and to ensure our clients have the best hair day. Our hair services include cutting, colouring, styling, perming, straightening, and we offer hair extensions (tape-in & hand-tied wefts).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We have known Margo for years and years, and my mom has been her regular client even before Margo opened Lava Hair. We trust Margo to hire only qualified hair stylists at Lava Hair.
Jessica has been my main stylist for years now, and I am always happy with her company and the work that she does. She NEVER cuts your hair too short — even if it needs to be cut shorter, she will never do it without your permission. Jessica never makes you feel like you need to cry over your bad haircut as soon as you leave the salon. Instead, you leave feeling confident and satisfied. She is also fun and edgy and always great to chat with.
Krista is chatty and sweet and friendly. Her bright personality makes anyone feel comfortable in her styling chair, and she does a great job.
And Viri does some AWESOME high-end hairdos for your formal event needs.
Lava Hair has a minimalist, beautiful, newly renovated interior and professional staff that always make you feel taken care-of and welcome as soon as you walk in the door. They have clients of all ages, from kids to retired folks. A wonderful, accepting environment. Thank you, ladies!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I’ve been enjoying my hairstyling experiences at Lava Hair for 4 years now and have received cuts and color from Viri (before maternity leave, she’s back now) and now Mandy. They are both extremely talented and professional. Mandy has been doing blonde pixies for me lately that are amazing. She’s so creative and artistic and really listens to me and her knowledge of Color is impressive. When you walk in the salon, you feel at home. There’s always a friendly face to greet you and the decor is beautiful. I’ve noticed a lot of the staff have been there a long time, which indicates to me that the owner is amazing. They are very particular about Covid protocols, keeping everything clean and sanitized. I’ve always been very satisfied with my visits to Lava Hair and highly recommend Mandy.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've been seeing Krista at Lava for more years than I can count. I moved to the Arctic and would always be sure to book when I was back in the city. She recently took me from my medium brown to a bright peony pink, she was very thorough and thoughtful. The other staff were very attentive as I was there for a long time. Also the salon staff very helpful, kind and they keep it so very clean. They are extremely thorough with their Covid protocols, which I appreciate. I highly recommend this salon and have friends and family who now attend the salon for services too. As a tip, there is parking in the lot in front of the salon and there is lots of parking nearby.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have seen Krista today after a long struggle with finding a good hair stylist in Calgary. I was also slightly traumatized by a my latest haircut experience at a very fancy place.
She took about 20 minutes to discuss all the details and explain me all the particularities. I felt heard. She listened and after giving all my trust in her, she made a couple of magic moves and completely reshaped my haircut to what I wanted and needed. After putting the normal amount of effort into the blow dry (other stylists just casually blow it a little if it is short and don’t even bother using a round brush) she took some extra time to cut it and texturize it more where I needed. We double checked everything and made sure the hair looked perfect. Honestly, a godsend. I hope you went home today knowing you made one woman very happy! Please don’t move ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have been getting my hair done at Lava Hair for the past three years, and I absolutely love it. My stylist is Mandy and she is absolutely incredible. She gets my blonde perfect every single time, and is really an amazing artist.
In addition to the styling, colouring and cutting expertise, I love the atmosphere at Lava Hair, and I know I can always count on Mandy for a great chat.
I always leave feeling refreshed and excited to conquer the rest of my day. Would absolutely recommend checking out Mandy and Lava Hair! :)
