★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of those hidden gems. The restaurant is a little hard to see and not all that appealing from the outside, but the food and service are fabulous. We had the dinner for two-A and it could have fed four people. The veggies were cooked but crisp. Nothing soggy here. Lemon chicken delicious and not overbattered. Rice was fluffy. If you want excellent Chinese food, this is the place.

The staff are very aware of my gluten-free diet and were able to offer some amazing gluten aware options. The hot and sour soup, ginger chicken, mixed vegetables and chicken fried rice were the best I’ve had in 20 years.

I see a few complaints in the comments about delivery times… They’re a popular take out spot, so order ahead of time and you won’t have an issue.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Was looking forward to try this place after the reviews. Homemade egg roll is made of a batter instead of a crispy wrapper.. did not enjoy. Shanghai rice noodles that were supposed to be spicy were very bland and overcooked. Ginger beef was okay but not enough ginger for my tastes, overly sweet like most places. Maybe I ordered the wrong things. Sigh.

I’ve been going to the Dragon Gate since 1985, beginning with their previous location across the street. I’ve moved farther away in Calgary, but I still make the journey here just for the food and service. Five stars for Dragon Gate!!
