About Lammle's Western Wear & Tack

We're Home Grown and Family-Focused
Our story officially began in 1983, when Barry Lammle and his brother saw an opportunity in the retail market - which lead them to open the first 3 stores in their hometown of Calgary, Alberta. Their mission was simple: to address the real needs of everyday Albertans - those looking for a Western retail brand that provides better service, selection, and quality. As a result, Barry spent the next 39 years creating a lifestyle brand experience that welcomes people from all walks of life.

At that time, Barry’s focus was split between retail and ranching, which put him in an ideal position to learn firsthand what our future customers valued. A rancher first, but his retail experience and expertise has always been his true strength. His understanding of his customer’s needs, and his commitment to support local businesses and communities is what has helped Lammle’s become what it is today. We take pride in the fact that those who rely on us as their western clothing supplier are the same families, friends and neighbors we’ve stood beside through decades of good times and hard times alike — and our dedicated employees in our 23 stores across Western Canada wouldn’t dream of offering them anything but our very best.

Retailers are complaining that they are losing market share to Internet shopping. They are correct; I conduct 90% of my business online. Why? Well Lammle's is a good example of why. The staff are not trained and there is no level of customer service. Case in point; I recently walked into one of their stores and an employee came up to me and said, "are you okay?" I was not sure how to respond, but said "yes", and she simply walked away. The common standard approach for most retailers including this store, is for the employee to say, "hey, howsit gowin?" A pretty "canned" opening line. How about this: "Good morning Sir, welcome to Lammle's, my name is ______ what can I help you find?" When the customer leaves, instead of "have a good one," How about this? "Thank you for shopping with us today Sir. If you need any further assistance or have any returns, please don't hesitate to come back. We are here to help you. Have a blessed day." I go into Lammle's a few times a year to check the inventory, and then go online and order with a U.S. online western store. This way I don't have to put up with bad service from a retailer..

I am less than pleased with the service at this location. My fiancée went in looking for jeans for himself and his groomsmen for our wedding a couple of weeks ago. After finding a pair he liked he asked if they had lots of stock in that particular style so it wouldn’t be an issue finding 5 pairs in different sizes. He was told yes, they’re brand new and they have lots of stock. He then asked to set up some form of registry so our guys knew which pants to buy when going in and the girl helping him said “we don’t do that here” he pointed out that he was in a wedding last summer and they had one set up for them. She then said “well we do but I don’t know how so you’ll have to come back when my manager is here”. So we sent the guys a picture of the tag with the style number to purchase the jeans. We have come to find out that 2/5 were sold the wrong pants because they didn’t have any stock of the other ones, and I suppose they would rather sell the wrong ones than just say they were out of stock. Now here we are 2 weeks before the wedding and they only have 4 pairs of jeans in the store and they refuse to get them from other stores in the correct sizes even though it was their mistake. Great! I’ll be shopping at Western Stockman from now on.

My father and children (16 & 3) stopped in to purchase my son a graduation outfit. They were met with terrible customer service by some female staff. They were followed around the store, told not to touch anything, and my son was continually nagged. In light of recent racial tensions, following my indigenous family around your store wasn't the best idea.

Bought a cowboy hat for my son. He was so excited to wear it but it didn’t fit. We got up together to go exchange it but at the door was told they “don’t do returns or exchanges on Boxing Day”. Very disappointed! Next time I’ll shop online elsewhere.

Costumer service is awe full! Management is rude to the employees and they treat people like they are in there to steal! Employees non stop ask if they can help but when u need help no one knows anything about anything there! Can’t try anything on and can’t return anything! Hopefully management reads some of these reviews... might put some sense into their heads how things are really going with them!

Great products and some good customer service. I had a pair of boot on hood for 24 hrs and came back to purchase to find out they had been sold.

Was in there today, spent $100 on a jacket. Came back in again later with my sister and there was a male employee I’ve never seen before being extremely disrespectful about wearing a mask after being in the store for ten mins already. Even after asking us to put masks on with severe attitude and lack of customer service and us agreeing to put are masks up even though we were enjoying a Starbucks coffee he proceeded to walk across the store to grab another mask and yell “I’m tired of babysitting 18 year olds!” In a store full of people. (We are both pushing 30 years old) Terrible customer service. And lack of respect and maturity. Will never shop here again! Hello western stockman! Clearly the staff there needs more training and it seems like Lammles doesn’t care about their customers whatsoever, judging by the reviews here and on Facebook.
