Kris' Fish & Chips - Gimli

Kris’ Fish and Chips was an established restaurant owned by local Gimli Fisherman, Kris Olson, in the early 90’s. The restaurant was a favourite of the Badger family and all their children took turns working at the fish shop during their summer holidays. When the opportunity came up to purchase the restaurant in 2003, Jeff and Candy jumped at the chance to become the proprietors. They have continued to sustain and build on the qualities Kris so lovingly instilled in this popular fish shop.

Fresh local food is always a priority in our menu at Kris’ Fish and Chips. We love that our customers get to experience our tasty local pickerel and delectable pickerel cheeks! However, if a hamburger is what you are craving, we hand make each patty using 100 % Canadian beef. To quench your thirst, we keep in stock, icy cold Manitoba Craft beer. We also have a full menu to choose from including salt water fishes, our famous poutine, homemade french-fries, salads, wraps and other mouthwatering items. If a beer is not your style, we have red and white wine and all your favourite pop drinks. Make sure to save room for our small farm made hard ice cream as well as a variety of soft ice creams!

Kris’ Fish and Chips take pride in our award winning patios, which have been developed and made from reclaimed wood and an ‘upcycled’ storage container, creating a comfortable, large seating capacity with little impact on the environment. Aside from the patios, Kris’ also implemented environmentally friendly ‘to go’ packaging and liners. Did you know you can park your car and borrow bicycles from Kris’ and have an intimate cycling tour of Gimli? We are proud that Kris’ Fish and Chips is actively involved in the Lake Winnipeg Foundation to ensure we have a healthy Lake Winnipeg and watershed. We are lucky to have such a great team working for us at Kris’ Fish and Chips. Not only does Brenda Filby greet you with a smile, she also leads the staff to excellence, comes up with monthly specials and is there to help with any questions. Dan, Signy, Scott and Owen are the dedicated team in the back of the restaurant; cooking orders to perfection. Alynne, Ashleigh, Sarah, Kenya and Pam are the friendly faces you will see taking orders and delivering food. We are looking forward to your next visit!
