On this most recent trip to Kokanee Creek Provincial Park we visited the spawning channel, where, although the spawning season has passed, we learned about how Kokanee salmon became landlocked in Kootenay Lake with the construction of the Bonnington Dam, how the channels are created and maintained, and how Kokanee means 'red fish', which is exactly what spawning Kokanee are... red.

This is a big Campground, sites are spacious in your not to close to other campsite, the beach is wondrous Sandy beach for mile or more, very unusual for BC Lakes.

Beautiful view! Clean and quiet, showers available. Only 14 sites with electricity but we were only in for the night.

Found the park on thatmap.com. A little secret is they have excellent espresso in the visitors center. Don't forget to walk to the waterfall! What a charming park.

Well maintained lots for camping. Large beaches. Fun and easy walking paths. If it's during the salmon spawn that's another great feature. Careful for the poison ivy

It doesn't get any more beautiful than this. If you want to see some really beautiful scenery take a right up out of Nelson BC and just take it in stop and take pictures enjoy the views with your feet in the sand

My stay in Osprey campsite was at the hottest point in history. This is a nice clean provincial campsite and well supervised. You have to go over to the main campsite for showers and they are free and they are hot. There is a dog beach off of Osprey however it would be nice if they put some sand in there as I tripped over a big rock, and probably broke my toe.
