Kingfishers Waterfront Bar & Grill

This is the loveliest location, with perfect river view, and perfectly equipped patio with heaters, open/closed in options depending on the weather. They closed for a while and re-opened with a less preferable wine list and a really downgraded menu. The Kanaka Salad was always a "go to" and they have removed it, for no apparent reason. So I ordered the Garden salad, which was all spring mix salad (aka lettuce) with grated carrot on top. No taste, no texture, no zip. Luckily I ordered the sous vide steak with it & the steak was delicious (steak often is.). The service was definitely inferior to last time we were there. Not sure where our server kept disappearing to. We got the coffee 20 minutes ahead of our cheesecake. So coffee was tepid, and half gone, by the time the dessert arrived.

The setting is beautiful. My catch of the day was tasty but rather small. My partner had the pork chops which was the better pick by far. Big and very flavorful.

120$ for my bill. Was very unsatisfied with the food. Staff was great. Food sucked. Got the smash burger. Couldn't believe how thin the patty was. Couldn't even tell there was a patty in between the bread. So thin. Way over priced. Could have went to the keg for that price.

A quiet and sunny outdoor patio overlooking the river. Really yummy appetisers,beer and cocktails. The servers are extremely friendly and offer great service.

When this restaurant opened, after applying and interviewing for a waitressing job, I was hired, and resigned at my previous position. The manager at the time spoke of other employees rudely and disrespectfully behind other employees backs, and the owners did nothing about it. I worked here for a few months, and in that time was shouted at several times by the manager and ignored by the owners. The schedule would often come out 1-2 days prior to the week starting, however one time the schedule came out several weeks prior. I noticed I was provided with no shifts on the upcoming schedule. When I questioned the owners and manager, they reassured me that it was a mistake and I would have shifts added. I continued to work my scheduled shifts the upcoming weeks, awaiting the updated schedule as promised. When came time for my last shift, the manager told me to go upstairs and speak with the owners - where in which I did, and was informed I was getting fired as I was unable to keep up with the demands of the restaurant (I had never served before and was informed I would be supported in the transition). I was fired on the spot as soon as new staff were hired to replace my absence. I understand sometimes certain places aren’t a good fit, however it felt incredibly dishonest and selfish and it’s something I reflect on as one of the most toxic experiences in my lengthy employment history as I have never been treated with such cruelty. It’s disheartening to see how employers treat their staff in times of their need vs when they are unneeded - and even more so a testament to that now, as they are desperate to hire. This establishment is another shining example of unethical workplace tactics.

Steak was amazing. We sat on the patio which was quite warm & the view is pretty. Prices are pretty standard. Can I make a minor suggestion of maybe mixed vegies instead of the broccoli, not a fan when it's crispy ?‍♀️other than that the meal was cooked to perfection.

Excellent food, quickly served and great atmosphere. Live music from a one man band, very good! Very good quality food overall, portion control could be better, the protein was perfect, but the veggie parts were either too many or not enough over the 5 plates. Excellent tastes and flavours, nicely put together, and very well cooked. We will come back for sure, and in daylight to see the views!!

Getting to this place, you wonder if you’re lost. But it’s a beautiful place, with a magnificent view of the water on the heated patio. The food was amazing. All of it fresh and delicious. The lettuce wrap bowl had the perfect hint of spice and the Nashville chicken sandwich lives up to its appearance. The penne was alright but the seafood pasta I’m told was great. Desserts - you can’t go wrong.
