I booked a weekend for 12 guys next January 2016 to go to the lodge and Ice fish for Walleye and play some pond hockey. I decided to go up there and ice fish for the day with a couple of buddies for the day on family day 2015 to check it out. Upon arriving there my initial impression was good. But once i seen the mess of his office and the lack of maintenace around the properrty, as well as the dissapointment of the owner not looking after us ice fishing wise, I decided to cancell next year and go back to our original spot. After paying this guy 95 dollars for the day and not being able to fish the full duration due to no operator later on, not to mention the owner is a grumpy old man and argued with us instead of trying to make us happy. I would not recommend this lodge to anyone.

What a dive. If I could give it a zero I would. Bathroom smells strongly of urine, everything is dirty, toilet doesnt flush and the shower is duct taped together from the inside. There are stains on every carpet and mattress, mattresses are at least 30 years old, the ceiling fan wobbles dangerously, and the fridge leaks andbthebceispers drawers are cracked and broken. The kitchen does not have enough dishes and there isn't even a full set of cutlery for the 16 that can stay here. Basic things are missing, like waste cans, hand towels, light bulbs and there are random bits of screws and brackets and hardware in dresser drawers. The beach entry is small and rocky with a silty bottom and lots of weeds - not family friendly for small kids. The dock is missing boards with nails poking out. No WiFi as indicated, but that is the least of our complaints. Certainly not worth the $1000 we paid for 3 nights. When we let the owner know about the puddle on the floor after rain on the last day he said that he didn't care because if anyone comes to Haliburton to sit in a cottage they are there for the wrong reasons...right...so in a thunderstorm we should be on the lake?!

Been going each year...A great place for the guys. It's not luxury, so if you're a rough and tough...ice fishing person. This is your place. Furniture is from 1980, holes in the walls, leaky pipes! But if your there to fish and have a roof over your head. You found the place!

Mosquitoes mosquitoes mosquitoes! !!! the place was full of all types of bugs inside and outside which was very disgusting and annoying. we were not able to go outside to enjoy the weather or the view (of the water) because of all the bugs and disgusting environment. the sink was leaking for the whole time we were there and also there was either only hot water or cold at one time. the cottage was very hot and not airconditioned and when we asked for a fan Ken braught it on our last night staying there. Ken said that the place will have wifi and when we got there we realized that was just a big lie. and all the pictures on the website and ads are not the true image of the place as he only took pictures from few good Angeles .the boat didn't work most of the time and had to spend 30 min or so starting it everytime we used it. he asked us to fill up the boat with gas when we only used it for 20 minutes. the cottage was very dirty and disgusting and had dog hair all over the carpet and it smelled like dog pee. when we got there we asked him if we can please make the payment before we walk in and he didn't allow us to do so until the last minute we left the place which was very weird. the shower was very slippery and my brother in law ended up falling in the shower and hurting himself. the cottage also had no key that we could use to lock our belongings so we had to keep all our stuff in the car. the fan had no cover and Ken was also very unprofessional with his actions.

We've been going here for years and the service has gone downhill in a big way. Kitchen and washrooms were dirty, and the place was messy when we arrived. Bbq didn't work, and we were told to cook our steak in a pan instead. The guide left us out on the lake for several hours after he said he'd be there, leaving us cold and hungry. He told us it wasn't his fault because his phone was turned off. The capper was Ken showing up as we packed our stuff, drunk and swearing, claiming we'd stolen money from him. It was a fantastic spot once, but I'm afraid it's not a place I'd recommend anymore.

One star is too many for this dump place....the owner Ken is a bum so are all his friends and buddies...this place should be shot down by Ministry of Health. There are almost no locks on the doors and Ken walks in and out of the rooms as he wishes....He walked in on us at 11pm being totally drunk and when I asked him to knock first before coming in, he started shouting and cursing which I had to call police. Please stay away from this place, it's very unsafe.

This review is for ice fishing only. We called Ken about a week before our trip to inquire about ice fishing. He was very friendly and answered all of my questions (confirmed that all equipment is provided and that there was no set time limit). He then booked us in for one of the ice fishing huts. When we arrived, we were greeted by Ken and then introduced to Nick who is the ice fishing operator. Nick was also very friendly. He helped load our things into the trailer attached to his ATV and drove us to the hut (just down the road). He showed us how to use the equipment and let us know to reach out to him/Ken if we have any issues. The hut was very cozy and warm thanks to the propane heating lamp. It had three fishing holes, folded chairs, and a padded bench. There were also two additonal holes outside that we were free to use. About two hours in, Nick texted us to check in and see how we were doing which was a nice gesture we really appreciated. Six hours in and three perch later, we were ready to call it a day. Instead of calling Nick to pick us up, we left the fishing gear in the hut (as suggested by Nick) and walked the three minute walk back to the parking lot. We had a pleasant conversation with Ken before we departed. Overall, we had a wonderful time and will definitely return!

Where do i start with this unmanaged decaying fire hazard of a place . When we arrived on time Ken the owner was attemping to clean the cottage we finally told him to leave & we would finish it off ourselves when we noticed he was wipeing everything with one rag toilet , kitchen table didnt matter. After 3 hrs of pure filth cleaning we tried to relax ,but the cottage itself is ready for demo . Beds are horrible , shower wouldnt drain , no back on the 40 year old oven ( fire hazard)that didnt really work , fridge dripped water all over your food , doors didnt close so no locking doors & welcomed all the bugs in . It was a horrible stay so safe to say we left early & never to return .
